Note : After winning hist first best picture Oscar movie "Unforgiven", Clint Eastwood has directed this one. I saw it it the movie theater when it came out. I was 13 or 14 years old and it was the first time I almost cried (I never cried watching a movie. I know, I'm so tough!). I found it was so emotional and it was a great experience. It is not Eastwood best known movie but I think it is actually his best one.
Note : Before Titanic, Leonardo DiCaprio did this small movie. What a perfomance ! Until now, it is his best one. Johnny Depp, as usual, is very good. The story is moving and the directing is great aswell. Finally, it is a realistic movie about the loving but also difficult relationships in a familly when someone has a handicap. A great masterpiece.
Note : This is the only American movie directed by Emir Kusturica, the great serbian director and it is his best one. Johnny Depp, as usual, is just great. The story is not relevant but the mood is great and rather unique. A mesmerizin picture.
Note : I'm sometimes annoyed by Spielberg's movies because there are most of the times not challenging enough, or too "nice". But this movie can't or shouldn't be criticized. A powerful and heartbreaking picture.
Note : Many years after Scarface, Brian de Palma and Al Pacino teamed up again for this movies. Unfortunately, it didn't get the attention it deserved. It is actually one of the best crime movies ever made.
Note : There are many movies about the ghettos in America and most of them are rather forgettable. Not this one. It is a great and heartbreaking movie, even better than "Boyz n the hood".
Note : After making some of the best gangster movies ever, Scorsese decided to completely shift gear and directed a costum drama. And you what? It worked. It is a gorgeous and rather fascinating picture. Of course, it helps when you have Daniel Day Lewis in your cast...
Note : This is a rather unique movie. The story is fascinating, the directing is very good and Holly Hunter gives the best perfomance of her career. Definitely worth a look.
Note : I have seen this movie like 17 years but it left a great impression on me. A movie without any action scenes, only a few dialogs but it was still mesmerizing.
Note : I have seen this movie many times and it has never lost its appeal. A gorgeous picture at the same time dark and bleak but also joyful and charming.
