Ledger would be the best choise for Jack, but 'cause he's dead I'd pick up Cillian Murphy. Oldman would be perfect choise for Lyod's role and I think that David Fincher would be the right man directing that remake which will hopefully never made.
Are you nuts Dude? Seriously? The mini-Series was WAY better.. why? BECAUSE STEPHEN KING Wrote the teleplay! I was like reading book all over again. Kubrick's version stripped away MOST if not ALL of Stephen King's meaning, ultimately substituting his own take on another man's work in the process, he obliterated several important subplots and TOTALLY CHANGED the ending into something that made no sense.
The only reason's Kubrick's version stands the test of time are - The Creepy Twins Scene, The River of Blood in the Elevator, and Jack Nicholson doing the Here's Johnny thing. Seriously from the moment you saw Jack Nicholson, you freakin knew he was gonna go Apeshit there was no build up! With Stephen Weber there was a progression into possession and insanity. There Was Redemption of the Father character and we got to see that even in tragedy things Can turn out right. OH and the overlook being rebuilt proves that evil never dies.
Kubrick's version was a hack and slash job- and the "evil because its an Indian burial ground" thing was so cliched and disrespectful that I gag! Shelly Duvall's Wendy was a simoering whimpering chick that I WANTED to see die and i had no love for the kid playing Danny - he wasn't cute, his acting was god awful and that curling of his finger, and "little boy who lives in my mouth" delivery made him sound like a budding schizophrenic, More than it gave the impression that he was Psychic.
Oh, and Dick Halloron DOESN'T DIE WITH AN AX TO THE BACK! hit gets bludgeoned with a Roque mallet and LIVES!!
hahaha the series was terrible in every way, does not live up to the movie at all, kubrick was sooooo much better and theres better scenes then the twin scene, the movie was excellent, the series i fell asleep watching too boring
