First topic was picked by me.

1. Cemetery Man (1994)
Cemetery man (A.K.A. Dellamorte Dellamore), a movie directed by Michele Soavi. I've met a lot of people that think Cemetery man is based on Tiziano Sclavi's Dylan Dog. At least they got the author right. Actually, this flick is a movie adaptation of Sclavi's other novel. You'd never gues, but it's called Dellamorte Dellamore.
Funny thing is that Dylan Dog's character is based on the appearance of Rupert Everett, who carries the lead role in this movie.

Now, to write a couple things about movie itself. Francesco Dellamorte is a cemetary man with an unusual task. At night he faces the dead, and puts them into their eternal rest for the second time, with help of his slightly challenged assistant Gnaghi.
This elegant zombie movie, unlike many of it's kind, has style and character.
If you're expecting some great visual efects, skip this movie. But if all you ask for is a great story, brilliant acting and some zombastic fun, this is the movie for you.
I should probably warn you that this movie has couple of sexualy intensed scenes, so make sure not to watch it with your kids.

2. The Others (2001)
I've covered zombies yestarday, today I'm passing on to ghosts.
The Others is a movie made by spanish director Alejandro Amenábar. Unlike the most of it's genre, this movie teaches us that fear is not caused only by blood an gore. All it takes to make a creepy and scary little movie are mistery, surprise effects, absence of explicit images, dark creepy atmosphere and story that can cover all that up.
Nicole Kidman was a perfect choice for this movie. (I wonder if the fact that it was produced by Tom Cruise had anything to do with that decision.)

About the movie itself: This movie is an elegant creepy little ghost story that brought on me one of the most surprising plot twist ever. Enyone who says that the ending was predictable is lying.
The story is carried by single mother (Nicole Kidman) and her two photosensitive (alergic to the sunlight) children. They live in, what seems to be, a haunted house. At least that's what the kids think. The backup characters are the house help that just started working there.
The plot twist and disclousure gave me the chills that i haven't felt in a long time. Like I said, it doesn't take gore to disturb you.
I hope you'll enjoy the movie.

3. Eden Lake (2008)
Warning: I do not recommend this movie to people with weak nerves. Kelly Reilly and Michael Fassbender start in this disturbing pshychological thriller.
What I like about this movie is that it breaks the standard of "vacation gone terribly wrong" movies.
Usualy we have a bunch of teenagers having a nice little vacation, with some grown up mass murderer breaking their plans. In this movie the roles are changed. In this movie the kids are hunters and the grownups are haul.

Abot the movie: Nice couple goes to Eden Lake to have a vacation when they get in a quarrel with local kids. The quarrel escalates and the vacation turns into horror.
This movie is just wrong. Great one? Yes, but the ending is just wrong. If you think you don't have a stomach or nerves for it, better skip this one. Otherwise, I deeply recommend.

4. 30 Days of Night (2007)
This movie made me see that not all vampire modifications are bad. (I'm a big vampires fan) This was actually a brilliant idea pretty well screaned.
I couldn't stand Josh Hartnett untill I saw this movie.
David Slade surprised me once more with this entertaining flick. (His first full lenght movie, "Hard Candy" was also brilliant.)

The story is set in isolated Alaskan town that is plunged into darkness for a month each year, when the sun sinks below the horizon. One year when those 30 days started, something wicked came from the darkness.
A local sheriff (Josh Hartnett) stands between the vampires and human survivors.
I do not recommend the sequel.

5. Dracula (1992)
For the fifth horror, I had a little duel. I couldn't decide between Bram Stoker's Dracula and Interview with the Vampire. I guess it's obvious which one won.
Like I've said, I've allways been a big fan of vampiers and simmilar mythological creatures. If I tell you that Bram Stoker's Dracula is of my favorite novels, and that Gary Oldman is one of my favorite actors, I'm sure you'll realise why I think of this movie as pure perfection. Especially if add up my enormous respect toward Anthony Hopkins to the equation.
If you ask me, this movie beats all it's ancestors.

I don't think there's need for me to write the plot. If someone doesn't know what the movie is about, I suggest reading Stoker's book before watching the movie.
This is one of the movies that I think everyone should watch at least once during their lifetime.

Interview with the Vampire is also a recommendation. (although not official for this list.)

Time travel

Second topic was picked by the giraffe.
People who added this item 3396  Average listal rating (2260 ratings) 7.7  IMDB Rating 8.1
6. 12 Monkeys (1995)
This movie was directed by Terry Gilliam, one of my favorite movie directors. I would like to thank the giraffe for picking this topic, because i was always fascinated by science fiction movies, and this one is one of my favorites. Bruce Willis, Brad Pitt and Madeleine Stowe start in this brilliant and confusing piece of art.
Chris Markers short movie La Jetee was inspiration to Terry for making this movie.

Story starts in the future in which an unknown leathal virus has whiped out 99% of population, forcing the survivors to live underground. James Cole, a convicted felon, "volunteers" to investigate the origin of the virus.
He is sent to the past where he meets a lunatic Jeffrey Goines.
Bruce Willis played his part to the perfection. (as usual) As for Brad Pitt, this was one of his most interesting parts, also nicely played.

Now, im sure that not all of you will fancy this movie, but I think it's worth checking out. (even if you don't like sci-fi or Terry Gilliam)

7. Donnie Darko (2001)
When i first saw Donnie Darko, I was stuned. Cast is well chosen, plot is brilliantly thought through and slightly confusing. (just the way i like it.) One of my favorite movies.

Donnie Darko is troubled teenager that almost dies at the begining of the movie. After the near death expirience Donnie starts to get visions of a large bunny named Frank. Frank tends to get Donnie in troubled sitiuations. Somehow, all of this is conected to time traveling. I'm gonna leave it to you to discover how.
I do not recommend the sequel.

8. Back to the Future (1985)
I guess I should put on two movies today, since I forgot to put one yesterday.
I told myself that I wont put this movie because it's a classic and everyone should already know about it, but it's the motherboard of time travel movies so I changed my mind.
I first saw this movie when i was 6 years old, and at the time it was my favorite movie. As time passed, my entusiasm for the movie droped down a bit, but I still think it's brilliant. Let's face it, it's more fiction than science, but it suits the genre perfectly.

Marty McFly, a typical American teenager of the Eighties, is accidentally sent back to 1955 in a plutonium-powered DeLorean "time machine" invented by slightly mad scientist. During his often hysterical, always amazing trip back in time, Marty must make certain his teenage parents-to-be meet and fall in love - so he can get back to the future.
Sequels are also recommended.

9. Timecrimes (2007)
We all dream about time travel at some point. Wouldn't it be wonderfull if we could travel to the past and fix our mistakes? This movie will show you the other side of time traveling. Timecrimes, a brilliant spanish flick is one of the best and one of the most consistent time travel movies I've seen so far.

One man gets into the time machine by series of unfortunate events and travels couple of hours to the past. After that he is followed by one disastrous event after another.
Quite a clever movie with a bit of dark humor and a lot of suspense.

10. Timeline (2003)
Richard Donner was used to known for making great action movies. I would like to introduce you to one of his latest works. Now, this movie is not even near as brilliant as those above, but i put it here because, not only it has a pretty good story, but it also shows us downsides of time travel. Unlike the timecrimes, this one shows us a bit more tehnical problems, like time paradox and time retreval. It's quite an average movie.

A group of archaeological students become trapped in the past when they go there to retrieve their professor. The group must survive in 14th century France long enough to be rescued.

Unofficial recommendations are: 'Time Bandits', 'Primer' and 'Army of Darkness'.

College/High School Movies

Third topic was picked by Xanadon't.

11. Dead Poets Society (1989)
When talking about college movies, most people's first thought's are mindless comedy movies. (Like those of national Lampoon) I decided to start with a different aproach. This movie sort of has sentimental values to me, since it was once a part of the event that was very dear to me. I'm not saying that this is one of the greatest movies ever made, and I can even see why some of you won't like it, but to me it's brilliant.

Todd Anderson has been sent to the school where his popular older brother was valedictorian. His room-mate, Neil, although exceedingly bright and popular, is very much under the thumb of his overbearing father. The two, along with their other friends, meet Professor Keating, their new English teacher, who tells them of the Dead Poets Society, and encourages them to go against the status quo. Each, in their own way, does this, and are changed for life.

People who added this item 2623  Average listal rating (1697 ratings) 7.6  IMDB Rating 7.9
12. The Breakfast Club (1985)
This one is one of the greatest teen flicks ever. It sort of introduces us to teen problems that probably stayed the same today as they were in the 80s. It also introduces us to stereotypes of the highschool subcultures. Those stereotypes get broken at the end of the movie, showing us that subcultures we choose do not define us. We all have simmilar problems and it's easier if we all stick together.

They were five students with nothing in common, faced with spending a Saturday detention together in their high school library. At 7 a.m., they had nothing to say, but by 4 p.m., they had bared their souls to each other and become good friends. To the outside world they were simply the Jock, the Brain, the Criminal, the Princess and the Kook, but to each other, they would always be the Breakfast Club.

13. The Social Network (2010)
I've always been a fan of David Fincher, and when i heard he was doing a movie about Mark Zuckerberg, unlike most of the sceptics, I was expecting a really good movie. When I first saw the movie, (yes, I've seen it more than once) my impressions went far beyond the "really good movie". They went all the way to the amazing.
great direction, brilliant acting and outstanding story made this a movie of the year for me. It was the first time I really noticed Jesse Eisenberg, and all of you that say his acting in this movie was underaverage should see the movie again. David Fincher, I salute you.

The movie is talking about Mark Zuckerberg and the period when theFacebook was created. It introduces us to Marks personal and legal problems at the time.

14. 21 (2008)
This is a movie with a brilliant story which has a lot of potential, but direction is rather disappointing. Anyway, I love this kind of movies and I like the basic idea. Kevin Spacey gave a brilliant preformance, as usual.
It's rather average movie, but I did enjoy watching it, and therefore I do recommend it.

In order to be accepted into Harvard School of Medicine, Ben Campbell will have to save $300,000 for the course. Only problem about this is the Ben can't get this amount of money. After being impressed by his skills in his Math's lesson, Prof. Micky Rosa invites Ben to become a member of a small group; a group who are planning to walk out of Vegas with millions, thanks to Ben's card counting.

15. Senior Trip (1995)
I said i won't write about highschool comedies, but here's the one I actually enjoyed. National Lampoon's Senior Trip is one of those pointless flicks that are made only for fun. Anyway, I don't have much to say about the movie. Red rules.

While on detention, a group of misfits and slackers have to write a letter to the President explaining what is wrong with the education system. There is only one problem, the President loves it! Hence, the group must travel to Washington to meet the Main Man.

Western movies

Fourth topic was picked by Beefheart.
People who added this item 1406  Average listal rating (908 ratings) 7.4  IMDB Rating 7.8
16. 3:10 to Yuma (2007)
You could say that westerns are sort of a weak spot for me, since I haven't watched much of the pre 90's of the genre. Therefore I'm starting the list with one of the later ones. It's actually a remake of 1957 original with the same name.
I haven't seen the original, but I very much enjoyed this one. Starting Russell Crowe as a renegade outlaw and Christian Bale as a desperate rancher, both of the actors gave brilliant performances in this very interesting movie. Not my favorite western, but very high on a list. definitely worth watching.

Rancher Dan Evans heads into Bisbee to clear up issues concerning the sale of his land when he witnesses the closing events of a stagecoach robbery led by famed outlaw Ben Wade. Shortly thereafter, Wade is captured by the law in Bisbee and Evans finds himself one of the escorts who will take Wade to the 3:10 to Yuma train in Contention for the reward of $200. Evans's effort to take Wade to the station is in part an effort to save his land but also part of an inner battle to determine whether he can be more than just a naive rancher in the eyes of his impetuous and gunslinging son William Evans. The transport to Contention is hazardous and filled with ambushes by Indians, pursuits by Wade's vengeful gang and Wade's own conniving and surreptitious demeanor that makes the ride all the more intense.

17. The Assassination of Jesse James by the Cowa... (2007)
I was a bit buissy with college duties, so I missed a couple of days. I'm gonna put three movies today to compensate. To start with my favorite western movie, first entery will be The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert. Great movie with superb cast and brilliant soundtrack. Starting Brad Pitt as Jesse James and great Casey Affleck as Robert Ford, this movie provided two of the most amazing preformances in history of cinema. (in my opinion at least) Apart from Pitt and Affleck, the rest of the cast is also quite known in the acting waters. So here we have Sam Rockwell, Mary-Louise Parker, Sam Shepard and amazing Jeremy Renner (before he got so popular). Also, If you find the time, listen to the soundtrack album by Nick Cave and Warren Ellis.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xH0b2TooTxY

The last months of Jesse James's life, from meeting Robert Ford, a 19-year-old who idolizes Jesse, to the day Ford shoots him. Jesse's a wanted man, living under a pseudonym, carrying out a train robbery, disappearing to Kentucky, and reappearing to plan a bank holdup with Robert and Robert's brother as his team. The rest of the gang is dead, arrested, or gone from Missouri. Whenever Jesse's around, there's tension: he's murderous, quixotic, depressed, and cautious. Ford wants to be somebody and wants the reward. On April 3, 1882, things come to a head: Jesse is 34, Robert 20. Ford becomes famous, reenacting the shooting on stage, facing down the label "coward," shot dead in 1892.

18. Unforgiven (1992)
It's been some time since I've seen this flick, but it remained in my mind as one of the best movies I've seen.
In the hands of Clint Eastwood comes the story of an old gunslinger and his partner brilliantly interpreted by Eastwood himself and Hackman. I wish I could write something more, but I should really recheck it.

The town of Big Whisky is full of normal people trying to lead quiet lives. Cowboys try to make a living. Sheriff 'Little Bill' tries to build a house and keep a heavy-handed order. The town whores just try to get by.Then a couple of cowboys cut up a whore. Unsatisfied with Bill's justice, the prostitutes put a bounty on the cowboys. The bounty attracts a young gun billing himself as 'The Schofield Kid', and aging killer William Munny. Munny reformed for his young wife, and has been raising crops and two children in peace. But his wife is gone. Farm life is hard. And Munny is no good at it. So he calls his old partner Ned, saddles his ornery nag, and rides off to kill one more time, blurring the lines between heroism and villainy, man and myth.

19. The Proposition (2005)
To be honest, the only reason I've seen this movie is because Nick Cave is the one who wrote it. So I was quite curious how it turned out. The story is amazing almost as much as direction. Guy Pearce is amazing (I'm starting to like him more and more). Also i like the portrayal of relationship betwen Mike and Charlie. A very very nice western.

Rural Australia in the late nineteenth century: Capt. Stanley and his men capture two of the four Burns brothers, Charlie and Mike. Their gang is held responsible for attacking the Hopkins farm, raping pregnant Mrs. Hopkins and murdering the whole family. Arthur Burns, the eldest brother and the gang's mastermind, remains on the loose and has retreated to a mountain hideout. Capt. Stanley's proposition to Charlie is to gain pardon and - more importantly - save his beloved younger brother Mike from the gallows by finding and killing Arthur within nine days.

People who added this item 1397  Average listal rating (891 ratings) 8.2  IMDB Rating 8.6
20. Django Unchained (2012)
Yes, I know I'm very very late, but you'll just have to excuse my busy schedule. For the last movie of the topic comes amazing Tarantino western. Following Django, a bounty-hunter slave and his German employer in their efforts to catch renegade criminals while trying to come up with a plan to save Django's beloved one, this movie deals with the topic of slavery like no other before. Amazing performances of the entire cast just sums up the brilliancy of this movie. DiCaprio's and Waltz's outstanding acting in this movie deserves standing ovations, Jamie Foxx became more likable again in my mind (first time was in Horrible Bosses), but the performance that kicked me of the chair was amazing Samuel L. Jackson as Stephen, an African-American that's whiter than all of the plantation owners together.

Former dentist, Dr. King Schultz, buys the freedom of a slave, Django, and trains him with the intent to make him his deputy bounty hunter. Instead, he is led to the site of Django's wife who is under the hands of Calvin Candie, a ruthless plantation owner.

This list's primary objective is to give you guys a movie recommendations. How did I imagine this to work? it's quite simple. I will put one movie per day, five movies per topic on this list. What's the topic? The topic is one section of the list that will be named by some movie reference. This reference can be anything. It can be: movie genre, movie atmosphere, certain actor or actress, director, a movie complexity, a certain time or period the movie takes place at, movie theme, ect.
I will start this list with a topic of my own and after I put up five movies, I'll continue with a topic of your choice.
It will work like this: you write a topic for the next section in the comments. Next on the list will be the topic that most people want me to go for. (It's the topic that repeats itself the most through the coments) If the result is draw, I'll pick a topic that I think is more interesting. If I don't get any comments by the end of the topic, the list will stop until someone writes one.
I'll start with horror movies.
Hope you enjoy the list.

I'll check your updates. ^^

Given the company it's in I guess I need to see Eden Lake. I too am a fan of Cemetery Man, The Others & 30 Days of Night.

I like this idea! My suggestion for the next topic is time travel.
Posted: 1 year, 6 months ago at Oct 31 3:02
Wow, I love all 4 of those horror movies. No way do you pick a fifth movie that gets an 8/10 or better from me! That just doesn't happen. Come on, prove me wrong :)

Love this list idea by the way! I'll throw out highschool/college themed as a suggestion. Cuz why not?
Posted: 1 year, 6 months ago at Nov 2 0:15
Nice, you used my suggestion AND started out with one of my all-time favorite time travel movies (if not my favorite).
Posted: 1 year, 6 months ago at Nov 2 1:00
Ha, well I only rated Dracula a 7/10 so that one's just a bit off the mark. But I should say it's been some time since I watched it, so who knows.

I've got one movie in particular in mind that I'm waiting and hoping to see here. (And one or two that would shake my enthusiasm) Looking forward to seeing what's next! Good start with 12 Monkeys!

There is a long time I want to see Dead Poets Society, and after seeing it in that list I feel like I really missed something.
Can I admit I wish watch all movies you like ? ^^

Seems like once a decade there is a movie that everyone loves, but that I hate beyond all reason -
In the 80's that movie was The Breakfast Club -
I watched it again recently and hated it even more than I did the first time.
