Ten CD's I'd steal from my parents' collection

1. The Dark Side of the Moon - Pink Floyd
This album is so out of place in their collection I'm almost tempted to report it to missing persons. The unquestionable best of their entire 50+ years worth of collecting(/ignoring) music. I'd definitely take it.

2. Automatic for the People - R.E.M.
This was always my automatic answer when people asked me which album I'd take from my parents. I'll be honest and say I only like a handful of songs on it, but it's all downhill from here.

3. Hit - Peter Gabriel
Who knew that Peter Gabriel has enough material to pack out two CDs worth of greatest hits. Well I didn't, but I noticed Solsbury Hill and Don't Give Up, so it wouldn't be so out of place in my CD collection.

4. HIStory: Past, Present and Future - Book I - Michael Jackson
The only negative aspect about this album is that it doesn't contain Smooth Criminal! I listened to it a lot as a kid and that always grated on me. One song away from being granted 10/10 status. I've listed it as owned, because what's theirs is mine.

5. The Whole Story - Kate Bush
My mum and dad HATE Kate Bush with unrivalled fury, so whoever got them this must have been having a right old laugh at their expense. Luckily, their son is no such mug and loves the Bushmeister. I'll be taking that.

6. Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends - Coldplay
This is the only CD my dear old mum owns that has been released in the last decade by someone who didn't win The X-Factor. It's played so regularly on the radio you almost don't need to own it, but these are desperate times.

7. The Beatles 1 - The Beatles
I'm not even a fan of The Beatles' music that much, but with so many important and inspirational tracks on one CD, you just can't afford not to own it. Cheers Mum, I'll be having that too.

8. The Who: The Ultimate Collection - The Who
Another best of album, I'm noticing a pattern. This belongs to my old man, but I can guarantee that he purchased it after watching a couple of episodes of CSI. He hasn't ever been cool enough to like a band like The Who.

9. The Essential Simon & Garfunkel - Simon & Garfunkel
No laughing. S&G have some absolute anthems packed away in their minimalist folk duo back catalogue. How handy that they're all compiled in this CD! Another curious gift choice from mum to dad though, just get him socks next year, ma.

10. The Definitive Blues Brothers Collection - Blues Brothers
This is getting desperate. I'm not going to pretend I'm not a massive fan of The Blue's Brothers, but if I'd forced myself to pick out 11 CDs instead of 10, I'd have to include Simply Red next. Phew! P.S This album is awesome.
The Flagship's rating:

This is an incredibly tough list to make considering my parents have a WOEFUL taste in music. This weekend I took it upon myself to browse their collection and set myself a challenge of finding ten albums that I wouldn't mind adding to my collection.

That doesn't mean I necessarily want these albums, only that they're the best of a bad bunch! I urge you to try this if your parents have a diabolical taste in music.
