"[Strong character], female" not "[Strong female], character"

Someone with her own identity, personality, agenda, and story purpose. She does not need to be a strong person, rather she should be a strong, well-developed character.

When in doubt, use the Plinket test: Can you describe the character without saying what they looked like, what kind of costume they wore, or what their profession or role in the story was?

Suggestions welcome.

I agree with all except Claudia. All she ever did was whine....I know why Lestat was at his wits end with her. Louis even kinda got bored of her after a while. Whilst Louis was trying to be a fatherly figure to her, she was trying to treat him as a lover. She was well in over her head for a 10 yr old. I never understood why she couldn't have just been a strong woman in the sense that she lived her own life instead of trying to wreck everyone else's...

BJBubblegum Claudia was an adult in a child's body for most of the movie. She was old enough to be a grandmother when she died. All the characters in that film/book were whiny in their own way but that does not mean they weren't developed characters. Claudia sought independence, recognition as the adult she was on the inside. She had lived decades and seen and done terrible things. She lives a violent lifestyle and has a codependent relationship with the other vampires. Their lifestyle was hedonistic and she was mentally an adult, her seductiveness fit the character IMO. She did not want to be a child because her body was the only part of her that was one. Would you want to be treated as a child forever? Would you want to be without romantic love and romance forever. She was a complex character with depth and motivations that did not just revolve around men so I consider her a strong character.

Claudia is an adult in a child's body. Her seductive, cruel and manipulative behavior make sense for her character if you remember she is easily old enough to be a grandmother by the end and the environment she was raised in. Her character develops and is not centred only around the wishes of the men in her life. They infantalise her - giving her dolls and children's clothing until she is about 30. However she has her own motivations beyond playing their child well into adulthood, such as desire to be viewed as an adult rather than a child. Remember they are the only of her kind she has ever met and the only people who know her true age for most of the film. She is a adult woman who has adult desires and yet they treat her as a child. IMO that makes her a strong character as she is well developed.

I haven't seen tomb raider but the adds present Lara croft in a very one dimensional way - it seems like her main role is eye candy and furthering the plot. Is the character more developed in the film? Can you describe the character without saying what they looked like, what kind of costume they wore, or what their profession or role in the story was?
