With the addition of lists of lists to Listal, I have broken this list up into separate lists for each decade, and then added those lists to a master list, which can be found here:

Slasher Film Master List

I have done this for a few reasons, but the major reason is that this list was getting hard to manage, with so many items.

This list is a work in progress. I may remove movies that I don't think belong in this list, and I may add others as I discover them. I may also add trailers to the list, if I can find the trailer on YouTube, as well as better quality poster images, if I can find them.

This is a list of every slasher film I could find, new and old, good and bad, and everything in between.

What is a "slasher film" you ask?

Wikipedia's description of a slasher film says:

The slasher film is a sub-genre of the horror film typically involving a psychopathic killer stalking and killing a sequence of victims in a graphically violent manner. Although the term "slasher" may be used as a generic term for any horror movie involving graphic acts of murder, the slasher as a genre has its own set of characteristics which set it apart from related genres like the splatter film.

This list also contains films which had an influence on the slasher subgenre (Psycho, Dementia 13, etc.), or are heavily influenced by slasher films .

Oh I know...

I'm still going to try to make as complete a list as I can though. :D

Cool to see someone else trying to list all the slashers out there. I started a list about 2 years ago, and I have over 2000 listed now. It really depends on what your definition of the term "slasher" is, but you seem pretty loose with the meaning.

Thanks for the comments!

This list is still just a work in progress. In addition to adding more films, I may end up pruning films as well, if I ultimately decide they don't quite fit. But you are right, I am being pretty loose with the term "slasher".

Great list. Slashers are my all time favorite with Zombies coming in a close second.

Are you still continuing with this list? if you are please reply :)

@slashercrazy
I add to it and tweak it every now and then. Just have other things going on, so, like 99% of my lists, it is still a work in progress. I am horrible for that. Sorry. The last thing I did was to make, and add some simple banners to separate the decades a bit better. Still need to go through and add my thoughts for the movies I have seen.

@Orpheus Anathema
I agree that giallo flicks are really their own thing, distinct from slashers. I actually meant to remove all the giallos I had in here. I will do that.
