![]() ----TRAILER---- Go Watch! ----TAGLINE---- The Night HE Came Home! ----MY THOUGHTS---- Definitely one of my favourite slasher films. Great atmosphere, and relies more on suspense, and "creepniness", than lots of violence/gore, like a lot of slashers tend to. In fact I don't even think they spill a single drop of blood in this film, and most of the violence is offscreen, but the good directing, and atmosphere more than make up for it. It goes to show that great effects are cool, but aren't everything. It also has a great soundtrack. I am quite fond of Caprenter's synth scores, and Carpenter's films. Trebek's rating:

![]() ----TRAILER---- Go Watch! ----TAGLINE---- More Of The Night He Came Home ----MY THOUGHTS---- The tagline pretty much sums this film up. Like most slashers of it's time it was just an attempt to cash in on the slasher craze sparked by it's predecessor. This second installment of the Halloween series relies more on on-screen violence to shock you, and because of this Michael gets a bit more screen time. At least they still had the original mask for this one. Trebek's rating:

![]() ----TRAILER---- Go Watch! ----TAGLINE---- If Nancy Doesn't Wake Up Screaming She Won't Wake Up At All. ----MY THOUGHTS---- I've always enjoyed this film, and as a kid actually found it pretty scary. Freddy was always pretty much what I figured the boogey man to be like. I'd say it was the first film to actually get me interested in horror films, and so it's kind of like my first love. This film also has some of my favourite horror movie theme music. Trebek's rating:

![]() ----TAGLINE---- The Man of Your Dreams Is Back. ----CHOICE QUOTE---- "There's something inside of me." - Jesse Walsh ----MY THOUGHTS---- Not a bad film, I guess, but it has some very strong homo erotic undertones. I'm not sure if this was intentional, or not, but it certainly makes for a different kind of nightmare. ----TRAILER---- Trebek's rating:

Description
Slashers new and old, good and bad, and everything in between. For those of you who do not know what a "slasher film" is, and are curious, here is Wikipedia's description of a slasher film: "The slasher film is a sub-genre of the horror film typically involving a psychopathic killer stalking and killing a sequence of victims in a graphically violent manner. Although the term "slasher" may be used as a generic term for any horror movie involving graphic acts of murder, the slasher as a genre has its own set of characteristics which set it apart from related genres like the splatter film." Some of the films on this list - arguably - may not be considered conventional slasher films, but have been heavily influenced by them, and contain most of the same elements. If a film contains a psychopath (masked or unmasked) who stalks and kills people (often groups of teenagers) in violent ways (usually using various implements), then it is probably on this list. This list also contains films which are considered to be "proto-slashers", meaning earlier films that were influential to the slasher sub-genre (like Psycho for example), and helped lay the foundation for slashers to come. The lines defining the slasher sub-genre can get a bit blurry at times, so for the purposes of this list I have chosen not to include any gialli, or rape revenge films. Even though most gialli and a lot of rape revenge films could be considered slasher films as well, they will get their own lists. This list is a work in progress. I am also adding trailers to the films that don't have them, if I can find the trailer on YouTube, as well as better quality poster images, if I can find them.

I'm still going to try to make as complete a list as I can though. :D
This list is still just a work in progress. In addition to adding more films, I may end up pruning films as well, if I ultimately decide they don't quite fit. But you are right, I am being pretty loose with the term "slasher".
