SK's Top Rated Movies
Live Action MoviesWhat can I say? Star Wars will forever be the most influential movie to me.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Can't go wrong with the fan-favored sequel either.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Possibly my favorite of the three, though if Obi-Wan were in it (alive) it would probably cut it.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
I liked the prequels for various reasons though I see where the hate comes from. Still, the final half hour of this movie is epic regardless.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Another great franchise I doubt I could live without.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
In some ways it was more fun than the first just because you finally got to go to the future.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
All three of these movies are really good in their own right and could almost be standalone movies if you broke the ties to each one. The first being a story about a kid dealing with his parents in the past, the second is about kid going to future, and third is about kid going back to the wild west because we all did that in our childhood.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Yet another franchise I've spent way too much money on, or at least my parents did. The first one is by far the best and holds up over time, watch it now that you're all grown up like me and you'll see why this one is better than the rest.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Not to put a damper on the fan-favorite sequel, I still love this one as well.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
A new series I've already come to love. My wife and I rented this on a whim thinking it would be a kid's funny "haha" movie. We laughed so hard we cried.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Not disappointing in the least bit, this one just picks up where the first movie left off and keeps on running with the humor.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Always surprised at how many people haven't seen Goonies. If you didn't grow up with it (or if you're not from Oregon, yea Astoria) you might think it's lame but those of us who watched it when we were 5 all know we wanted to follow a treasure map to the unknown.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Probably my favorite Jim Carrey movie, was my first of his as well.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Always tied with the Mask, this movie is pure genius despite the title telling you otherwise.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
The Ventura movies are funny the first time around but when I watched them again years later I realized what a comical genius Jim Carrey is. This movie is pure gold from an acting standpoint.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Personally I like this one a little more than the first. Maybe it's because there's no dudes with plastic surgery and pretending to be women in it or the jokes are just funnier. Regardless, I want to see him pull the slinky trick off successfully just once.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
A rather unique movie, Jack Black is another funny man who can do no wrong and any rock fan has to see this movie.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Always makes me laugh and feel better despite my dead-end job that makes working at Initech look like fun.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
My one war movie I put in to feel a little more manly. I actually am not always a fan of the "man" movies like Braveheart or Gladiator but this one stuck to me.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
A long needed service to Star Wars fans, when this movie isn't making hilarious references to the epic saga they are creating great characters who I actually cared about and wondered what would happen to them.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
For how stupid this movie is, it still makes me laugh even though I've seen it over a dozen times.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Another classic comedy, this was my first Chris Farley movie and therefore somehow defaults to being my favorite.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Another childhood movie that, like the Goonies, you probably wouldn't like if you watched it now for the first time unless you grew up with it. I loved this movie but Gmork always scared me... still does.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Another classic fairytale movie I grew up with, always fun to watch over and over again.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
A movie that aside from it's PG-13 rating I really felt could be the new generation's "Princess Bride" kind of movie. I wasn't expecting much from Stardust but I immediately went out and bought it after viewing, and then bought it again when the long awaited Bluray finally released, not disappointed for buying it twice in the least bit.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Animated MoviesIt's been my favorite Disney movie since it came out and it will just always be that way.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
While Little Mermaid may always be number one I always have trouble choosing between this and Aladdin. I like Lion King but it's got so much sadness in it. Oh well, Hakuna Matata.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Another Disney favorite I grew up on, I always wanted to be as cool as Aladdin (never was) and have a pet monkey like Abu.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
A not so popular Disney movie, I mostly fell in love with the music as a kid. Now I like watching this movie not just for the music, but the story and characters as well.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
I actually didn't want to see this one when I was a kid, I thought it was too girly (I know, and my fav is Little Mermaid, wassup with that??!?). My wife made me sit down and watch it and I was pleasantly surprised at how well done this movie is.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Another not so popular Disney movie, it's a little darker but still a great story and great cast.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
CGI MoviesBy far my fav CGI movie to date has to be Kung Fu Panda. Jack Black and just a stellar cast made this great story into a great movie.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Two Dreamworks movies in a row, you'll notice a trend there, I'm not a huge fan of Pixar, I find their movies to generally be highly overrated. Megamind on the other hand was a hilariously fresh movie with a plot that was not so usual.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
What was my fav CGI movie has moved down a few slots in the last couple years, but I still love this movie. The story is unique and all the characters are so great and have all their own quirks, it's great.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
One of Disney's CGI movies that I ended up loving. Bolt seems to be fairly underrated and it's probably because Miley Cyrus is in it, but if you notice she really doesn't have that many lines, heck Susie Essman has a larger part than her and does a fantastic job. Anyway it doesn't matter, because Rhino the hamster is what makes this movie great.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
Another CGI film from Disney, again I was pleasantly surprised at this movie. Personally I thought it would bomb, fortunately what we got is probably Disney's first successful combination of the lovableness of their older cartoons with the vibrancy and beauty of CGI. Not to mention this movie is hilarious and has a great soundtrack.
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
So I do have one Pixar movie that I think easily rises to the top. Incredibles took the X-Men idea and put a family spin on it. This movie has a great story, characters, and heart to it. Why no sequel? No idea, Toy Story is being beaten into the ground, and I mean Cars 2, really?
Sabin Kenobi's rating:
This is the one Dreamworks movie that my Pixar fan friends say they like and say is "up to par" with Pixar. Screw you guys. This movie should be the bar for a Pixar movie to be made, then I might like them more.
