2013
My most anticipated for this year, if it does come out. I loved the first Percy Jackson movie and went out and read the books, which are amazing as well. The story in this one is great too and they got most of the original cast back so it's shaping up to be a really good film. A lot of runner ups though, I think 2013 is going to be a great year for movies:
Iron Man 3
GI Joe Retaliation
Thor: The Dark Worlds
The Wolverine
Monsters University
Oz: The Great and Powerful
Anchorman 2
AND MORE!!!
2012
I was quite surprised after the sequel which was just ok with this movie. I was a little worried about time travel and a younger agent K played by someone other than Tommy Lee Jones, but I must say Josh Brolin (woah, is that Brand from Goonies!?!?) does not disappoint. The story is actually really good and with a great cast (but not enough Alice Eve, oh well) this turned out to be a great film.
2011
This movie had me laughing from beginning to end! Absolutely hilarious with more of Rodrick than the first, the older brother. I love the family in it too, just good clean family fun that everyone can enjoy and laugh at.
2009
Personally I think Dreamworks does a better job with their movies than Pixar. That said, I felt this movie stepped up their game even more. A unique spin on classic monsters and aliens with a fun story.
2009
All my friends told me this movie was made for me. Yes, as a Star Wars geek it is true. Fanboys is made for people just like me and probably nobody else.
2007
I almost feel like this was a step up from Princess Bride. This movie took me on a great fantasy adventure full of magic, witches, pirates, sword fights and love. What a great journey!
2005
Easily the best of the prequels, I really do love this movie. The plot was good and the ending was some of the best acting from the cast I'd seen.
2003
The first movie is always the greatest. Too bad the trilogy went down the tubes. At least we have this one (and actually the 4th wasn't too bad). While everyone praises Johnny Depp's performance, I must say I feel Geoffrey Rush is the real star, he just did an amazing job.
2002
This is another Disney movie I skipped when it came out. Not sure why, but this movie is hilarious and heart warming. I really love the story and how no matter what, family is what's important.
2001
Another Disney movie that just isn't given enough credit. I skipped this one when it came out but then my wife owned it and so I gave it a whirl. How did I miss this? One of their best works.
2000
While not true to the story at all, if you forget about the Grinch and just sit back and enjoy Jim Carrey, it's a fun movie. Not like the cartoon at all. Still a Christmas essential for the hilarity.
1999
Oh my gosh here's another movie I hated the first time I watched it and I just didn't get it. Know why? I hadn't worked a job yet, I was just a freshman in high school. Now that I've worked some jobs I hate? This movie is an absolute favorite and PURE genius in writing.
1998
A movie of a Bible story. My guess is it would be doomed to fail, but Dreamworks proved me wrong. They made an extremely engaging and heartfelt movie with a top notch cast.
1997
This movie was way ahead of it's time and thankfully people didn't shun it for that. The special effects were amazing, the story was engaging, the acting was superb. Too bad the sequel didn't fare so well.
1996
I don't know if it's the Looney Tune characters or that I remember Michael Jordan in his prime (kids say "Michael Jordan? Who is he?" GGrrrr......) anyway, while not the best acting, it was a fun one to watch.
1995
I'm going to take this time to shoutout and say they REALLY need to put Goof Troop on DVD so I can buy that series up. That said, this movie is awesome. While it doesn't have all the characters from the TV show (Where's Pete's wife who's always 'sympathizing' with Goofy?) but it's still hilarious and heartwarming at the same time.
1994
My first PG-13 movie and one of Jim Carrey's finest. Still love this movie for it's characters and humor. Usually my only problem is choosing between it and Dumb and Dumber. Decisions decisions.
1993
Now here's a movie I didn't like/get as a kid. Now that I'm older I get this movie and realize it's genius. The story needed the nostalgia that as an adult I now miss the days of playing ball and hanging out with friends like that to make the movie good. Hopefully others recognize it earlier.
1991
The favorite of the trilogy (although now we have TMNT, ha!) I always enjoy this movie. I especially enjoy watching it now because it's like stepping back into the early 90's. All the clothing, music, and slang talk, it's hilarious.
1990
Not my fav of the trilogy but the best of this year for sure. I actually enjoy this one more the more times I watch it and after watching an interview with the creator's and them talking about how they always wanted to do a western because of playing Cowboys and Indians as kids. Makes sense.
1989
Probably still my favorite Disney movie. There's just something magical about the story, and Ursula is a great bad gal. Always love the music too.
1987
I still remember a babysitter bringing this over to let me and my brother watch it. He was a cool babysitter eh? Not to mention the SNES he would bring over, or all his Star Wars action figures. Yeah, babysitting can be awesome.
1986
My nickname is Daniel-son, hence this movie is a fav and is awesome. It's always hard for me to decide which I like more, this one or the first one. Decisions decisions.
