SK's 30 Video Game Meme
01 - The best game you played during the last year
![]() This game came out in the spring and I'm still playing it, on my 3rd playthrough. Why? Because it's freakin' awesome that's why. I love the characters, helps if you've played the first, I love the story, the gameplay is the solid base from the first one with extra whipped cream and sauce added on top. The UGC concept is working and keeps the game fresh and new. The new combining powers thing blows my mind, and I seriously wanted to cry at the good ending, so good. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
02 - The most underrated Game
![]() I've said this before, way underrated. This game seemed to have bad reviews ready and waiting before it even got released. I hadn't heard much about it, downloaded the demo before release and I was hooked. Who wouldn't want to be able to morph the terrain and completely screw with the ground, making online battlefields look like the rocky mountains? Sure the story was lame I'll admit that, but the gameplay is spot on. Too bad it got screwed because for the brief moment where people played multiplayer online, it was awesome. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
03 - A Game that makes you really happy
![]() DDR always makes me happy, even when I'm trying to do MAX300 or Matsuri Japan on Expert and failing. While I swore I'd never play guitar hero and then later caved, I didn't with DDR. I remember seeing my friend play and saying 'that looks so stupid' but deep down I knew I always wanted to try. This was my first Dance Dance Revolution game and that's probably why it's my favorite because they are all pretty good. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
05 - Favorite love story in a Game
![]() The ending to FFIX really does hit me right in the soft spot. The way the final battle ends I really thought Zidane was done for, I mean they killed Aeris so we can't put it past SquareEnix to kill another main character. So to see him show up and Garnet running down to him, yeah, even as a guy that gets to me. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
07 - Favorite Gaming Company
![]() I don't really have a favorite game developer. There's no developer I go out of my way to follow and buy all the games they make. While Lucasarts has come out with some great games on their own, they have their fair list of crap too. Raven however made the Jedi Outcast and Jedi Academy games with Lucasarts and they are great. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
08 - A Game that you’ve finished countless times
![]() I've beat this game so many times with so many different people I've lost count. With cheats without cheats, doesn't matter; although I do remember the first time I beat it was at my best friend's house. I can keep coming back to this game forever, the Ninja Turtles are just awesome and when you've got friends to play with you it just makes this game epic which is quite a feat with an NES game. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
10 - Favorite classic Game
![]() Favorite classic is easy, Bubble freakin' Bobble. I still remember playing this arcade cabinet when I was like 5 or 6 at this restaurant in a small town near a lake we would go fishing. Once I was able to find a copy for my NES I can't stop playing, it's so simple, addicting, and fun! Sabin Kenobi's rating:
11 - The Best Console
![]() I'm not a hater on the other systems, but I really do love the Playstation 3. I do argue about specs and all that and compare the raw computing power and I say the Ps3 comes out on top, but the other systems are alright and have their place to. Still, the Ps3 with it's music and video capabilities, downloadable games, Blu-ray player, backwards compatibility (60Gb model FTW), internet browser (that could use a little work but it's there), six-axis control, friends and native 1080p output!?! It's a beast in a little black box. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
12 - The Worst Console
![]() Big, bulky, ugly, and while it's only perk was slightly (and I use that term relatively) better graphics than the year older Ps2, it didn't have anything going for it. Halo? Psh, play a real shooter like Timesplitters or Unreal Tournament. Not to mention the thing clocked in at 8.5lbs. "But SK, isn't the Ps3 11-some pounds?" Supposedly it does weigh more, but it's all glossy and shiny, it's power adapter is built into it so you don't have to bother with hiding it behind your TV, and actually looks cool on my shelf, not some giant black brick of a paperweight. I hear it makes a good door prop. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
14 - A game that no one would expect you to love
![]() When it comes to RPG's, I'm a Final Fantasy man, I like my FF games and I don't really like to steer to far from that RPG model. My friend introduced me to Secret of Mana warned me that I probably wouldn't like it because it's not 100% traditional RPG. Turns out, I really love this game, way fun. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
15 - A character who you can relate to the most
![]() I can't parkour up buildings or shoot lighting (I wish) out of my hands. What I love about Cole though is his personality, he debates about what he should do: be the good guy or be selfish. Everyone is like this really so it makes Cole easy to relate to. What else I relate to about him is that everyone looks to him to fix everything, that just because of who he is and what he can (or can't) do that it's his responsibility to fix things. I get that, sometimes I hate when everyone's looking to me to fix a situation, but at the same time it feels great stepping up to the challenge and succeeding. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
17 - A Game that disappointed you the most
![]() 11 years to work on this game, and this is what we got? An inferior character list, glitchy gameplay, and really just a hack n' slash disguised as a fighter? Then Capcom has the gall to "admit" it wasn't finished and try and charge us more money for an "Ultimate" version? Give me a break Capcom, screw you guys; I for one am not giving them another cent. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
18 - A game that you wish more people would’ve play
![]() Ironically, there are STILL people playing this game online. It's actually not too hard to find a game to join. Still, I wish there were more people online or more of my friends would jump on. I've bought 3 copies of this game for as little as 5 bucks just to give to my friend's to try and get more online to play. It's the best shooter I've ever played on a console. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
20 - The best screenplay in a game
![]() I actually enjoyed this game a lot. It's way longer than I'm used to but even so I loved going back to it for the story. I liked the taking down an oppressive empire kind of story, it doesn't have to be an end of the world story. I loved the ending that Balthier and Fran being the hero's and once again SquareEnix making us think might just be crazy enough to pull an "Aeris" and kill off some more main characters. Fortunately it ends with Vaan and Penelo missing the ship so it's assumed Balthier and Fran are alive (of course they are), and left it open for a sequel. Only bummer was the sequel SUCKED! But still, great ending to the best looking Ps2 game on the market. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
23 - Favorite Fight Game
![]() Woah, how can I hate MvC3 so much and have MvC2 be my favorite? Because it's only recently Capcom has their heads in their butts (also mad about DMC5) but anyway. MvC2 has everything done RIGHT, which is just one other reason I don't understand how they screwed up 3 so much. Huge character roster with lots of variety and just spot on gameplay. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
24 - Favorite RPG game
![]() By far my favorite of the series, this game has everything! Engaging plot line, characters with personality and backstory (yes, all 12 of them... and there are 2 more secret characters!), spot-on gameplay. I really never get sick of going back to this one. I love that the game's main character is technically Terra though it's arguable because the other characters you get early on are so involved as well and have such engaging personalities they can steal some spotlight. Kefka is a great crazy bad guy and literally saving the world from him is always satisfying. There is so much to explore and discover in this game it was amazing they could fit it on a 16-bit cartridge. Sabin Kenobi's rating:
25 - The most addictive game
![]() CTF has always been a favorite game type of mine (even in real life it's fun!). Fat Princess just has not gotten old to me, I know some have had their fill (of cake) and no longer care to play but I love coming back to it. CTF with different classes, abilities, levels. It's great! Sabin Kenobi's rating:
26 - A Game that you love but everyone else hates
![]() Another one with bad reviews just waiting for it. I was a fan of the original Bionic Commando on the NES and I enjoyed this reboot/sequel as well. The gameplay is really good, the story is kind of pathetic, and the multiplayer would have been fun if anyone actually bought the game and was online... Sabin Kenobi's rating:
![]() It comes down to this and Final Fantasy VI, Jedi Knight wins on the principle of if I was stuck on a deserted island (and had internet connection) and had only one game to play for the rest of my life, it would be this one. Story, characters, gameplay, lightsabers, force powers, everything is awesome. Then you throw in the online play and I'd be set for life, as long as people still got on and played with me. Yes I know it's an older game, but I would still play this online if other people did too, it's that good. Sabin Kenobi's rating:

I'd do this meme, but I'll have to think about what I'd include. I've known about Paulo Roberto's version for a while now. I'm such a slacker... =]
