A list of horror and supernatural-themed films of the silent-era. Some may argue that many of the films on this list are more melodrama or mystery than horror, but I've tried to be thorough and concise. After all, many early silent films were never considered "horror" when they were first released, but did have a very distinct influence on future horror films.
Thank you for this. This may quite possibly be the greatest list on here. I'm looking to teach a horror films class next year in my graduate program, and some of these would be perfect to show. Great job.
A lot of movies I would like to see here!! but most of them are impossible to find. I find the scariest thing about them is that all the cast and crew are probably dead!! And of course the atmosphere and the brilliant shadow shoots they had back in the film history!! Great!
