I agree with Leopald and Christian...but I am sure no woman wants Nic Cage. In what warped mind is Nic Cage a sex symbol?!?! Or Kevis Costner for that matter?! Are you a man posing as a woman?
Posted: 4 years, 3 months ago at May 29 14:07
Ha! Believe me. Cage is no where near sexy...it's the character, not the actor who semi-butchers the role! That's why it's a movie list and not an actor one. It's just too bad that Cage gets roles for some pretty good men.

Akula, thanks for the correction. How embarrassing. I may add Rhett when I finally get around to watching the movie. I have an aversion to classic films!

You should visit London sometime most guys adopt the bubbly charming attitude. Its what works in Britain since if you try and act tough in Britain you dont look manly you look stupid.
Posted: 4 years, 3 months ago at May 29 17:26
I haven't seen the movie but Ralph Fiennes & Jennifer Lopez in Maid in Manhattan seems to me like one of the worst screen pairings in movie history. I could be wrong though.
Posted: 4 years, 3 months ago at May 30 0:33
Movies really set unrealistic expectations, don't they? Good list.
Posted: 4 years, 3 months ago at May 30 1:27
I think Noah Calhoun's character from "The Notebook" isn't too far off from realistic. "The Notebook" plot itself is completely possible.

Gr8 List!!
Posted: 3 years, 7 months ago at Feb 3 0:55
I would argue with Edward Cullen, but they did a good job making him an acceptably good person in the movies. In the book he's sorta pre-abusive boyfriend material for a while.

Love Westley, Noah Calhoun, Edward Lewis. Real men should be taking notes from these guys. Great list.

Darcy (L) ..***..
Posted: 3 years, 7 months ago at Feb 7 16:03
Well, I'm sure there are Darcy-like people out there. But we don't give them a chance, because he starts off as an ass. It's not 'till later that you fall in love with him.
I so agree with most of them though.
Posted: 3 years, 7 months ago at Feb 7 22:26
Ew, not Edward Cullen, but all the others are pretty good choices.
Posted: 3 years, 7 months ago at Feb 8 5:27

it 's a pity indeed, hehehe
but i'm sure there are quite a few men who's life story could be as charming as these, only that we don't pay close enough attention to them i guess :)
Posted: 3 years, 3 months ago at May 29 17:45
I really do not like this list. Henry and Matt are the only good ones that I am familiar with. Why do so many girls say "guys are jerks!" then act like they're attracted to nasty, conceited douches like Darcy?!? There is NOTHING attractive about him. Even his facial features are smug.

And Edward Cullen... well... ew. Why there's an 'ew' goes without saying. XP

On my list I would have Joseph from The Nativity Story, Abe Sapien, John Brooke, Friedrich Bhaer, Beast Boy, etc.

Posted: 3 years, 3 months ago at Jun 3 12:44
Thanks Rummywench!

Quinn. I'm pretty sure that girls are attracted to jerks in the same way guys are attracted to vapid shallow morons with large breasts. It's hopeless. I did like Joseph from the Nativity Story, but felt kinda sinful admitting that one. The other ones, I'm afraid I don't know!

Super list! The comments lift it to extraordinary -- like how I always wished I could journal, all insightful and near poetic. Congratulations, sleepless101, it's a winner! You should do up a video presentation for youtube.

I have a sequel suggestion (there MUST be a sequel). Please view LADYHAWKE (1985; Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer, Michelle Pfeiffer) Amazon.com considers it an "essential video" more popular now than when it came out. Their review, after quibbling over the music and such said, "there's a certain charm to the movie's combination of romance and heroism." This medieval fantasy tells of lovers tragically cursed by an evil wizard. I am assuming you haven't seen the movie since it missed the list. LOL

I guess I don't get it. Are you looking for perfection? Apparently. Are you perfect, sleepless101? Oh, it's a joke. No, I don't think it's a joke. Just another woman with impossibly high standards being cheered on by the peanut gallery. Your examples are all taken from Women's Movies. What is a Women's Movie? Well, it's about "changing a man."

Wow, Lorenzo. Yeah it's a joke. Every one of my lists are. This is a social networking site. Don't worry about it so much! Obviously, if I have enough time to construct around 100 lists, I am far from perfect, and I've already found the one who meets my impossibly high standards, but I'll continue to find perfect movie guys because that is what "Women's movies" are all about...creating an impossible illusion to keep people going to movies about impossible illusions. Calm down. Take a pill, and just laugh at it with the rest of them.

LOL women always look for kind of men that don't exist LOL
well some does, the qualities you choose aren't so impossible
except Twilight :)

With all due respect, if men were like this I'd probably be a lesbian. Except for Christian Slater and Brad Pitt, they're perf.

Yeah. I've definitely got to update with some more modern candidates...eventually. :)

If we're shooting for impossible standards on ridiculously hot men, I vote to put Captain America or Iron Man on this list. =)

Great list! Thank you for sharing!!

I'm a little weird I guess, but except of Roberto Benigni's character in La Vita è Bella, all the other ones are super boring and unreal. If these characters were real they would definitely be gay - or extremely dull. Add Django from Django Unchained to your list, a much more "real" and convincing character, and more masculine too.

What a great list! I haven't watched all of those movies but some of them and I agree with what you wrote about the characters. In regard to the other ones you made me really curious and I shall add those movies to my to watch list.
