How is it possible that Ritchie Blackmore is fifty-third? I know Smoke on the Water, but still, it's goddamn Ritchie Blackmore, people. Johnny Ramone and Kurt Cobain both in top 20? Johnny is one of the most important things of punk, but I don't think that he'd be as good guitarist as they claim. He's not technically a very good guitarist. It's weird that they haven't list Slash at all.
worst list ever..no albert king..laughable..bb king 3rd?? laughable..kurt cobain 12th..please..mark knopfler only 27th..please..elvis makes the list? come on..robbie robertson only 74th? laughable..derek trucks only 77th? no jeff healy? i just lost all respect for rolling stone, not that i had much to begin with
Yea retarded. I like Eric Clapton but he'd be the first one to admit Mark Knopfler is way better....I agree 100% withe skontch1I guess it must be a popularity contest. No one in US even listened to direstraits until Money for Nothing which is one of their sorry - mediocre songs! Neil Young????fuzz tone and I can play better than he does asleep! really outtahere!
omg this list is a joke. Eric Clapton is so overrated, no way you can take him over Stevie Ray Vaughan. Tell me, what has Eric Clapton done that has been so great outside of Cream? Don't say Layla either, cause Duane Allman carried that album. Not saying Clapton can't play, but he's damn overrated.
And why in the fuck is Kurt Cobain in the top 20 over Jeff Beck? Sorry youngsters, but Kurt was a shitty guitar player and couldn't play a solo to save his life. And as for Kieth Richards, he is overrated too, Mick Taylor can be credited for keeping the Stones alive going into the 70's, just listen how flat they have sounded since he quit the band.
Where the hell is Albert King at BTW? He should be in the top 10 at least. Who the fuck puts T-Bone Walker all the way at 45? Without him no Chuck Berry, no BB King, no Albert King, and no Allman Brothers. That man had more influence on guitar than anyone else, and they put him at 45? Someone really don't know their music.
Greatest guitar players ever? More like 100 most popular guitar players ever. They did get it right putting the Allmans, SRV, B.B. King, and Hendrix in the top 10 but this list is a joke just for the sake of putting a shitty grungy rocker that couldn't play a solo to save his life above Buddy Guy, Freddie King, and Jeff Beck, T-Bone Walker, and all the others at Number 12. Cobain shouldn't even be on this list.
Once again Rolling Stone magazine proving they are a joke!
