Updated 2010-2011, adding ABBA through Tom Waits, and adding in a couple of band member listings for 2009 that I missed.

I just can't understand why bands/artist like Madonna and ABBA are in Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but Rainbow, Dio or GN'R aren't...

I want Deep Purple right in there!

I just want to know why John Denver is not in the rock and roll hall of fame?He was one of the greatest singers and songwriters of all times.I think every one just picked on him because of what he stood for.

That picture of James Brown is not a very good likeness.

Man, KISS deserved to be in years ago! ;P

"I-I-I wanna Rock n' Roll all Ni-i-ight...
And party every day!"

Maybe James Brown underwent those skin-bleaching procedures like Michael Jackson did...maybe he has a secret wish to be a white guy...like Michael Jackson did, too. ;D

Granted, KISS was always better live than in studio and put on one of the best shows of any band for years but I've owned their entire discography (at one time or another) up until Hot in the Shade - with the exception of The Elder and there's not a bad album in the lot. Also, with the exception of The Elder, they all went Gold or Platinum in sales. As far as live albums go, I prefer Alive II but the first one was pretty damned good, too.

They've got a string of hits longer than my arm and more recognizable material than virtually anyone this side of The Beatles, Elvis or Michael Jackson. There's a reason they've had one of the largest followings of any band in history, man. They rock! ;D

I feel for you having to listen to any Hues Corporation album; especially since they only had one song worth listening to: Rock the Boat. But I could listen to KISS all day and have many times. They deserve a spot in the Hall of Fame, if for no other reason than their well-deserved success.

I can understand someone not liking them. Hell, lots of people like Guns n Roses and Metallica; but with the exception of maybe two songs apiece, I can't stand either one of them.

Actually Hard Luck Woman was written with the intention of giving it to Rod Stewart but they decided, in the end, to keep it for themselves, especially given the success of Beth. There was no ripping off of Stewart at all and they've never ripped off anyone. To think that Kiss would ever rip off, of all things, Pop acts is laughable. KISS spent most of their years making their own way and standing apart from the rest of mainstream rock. Also, Beth and Hard Luck Woman are the only two ballads they made in their early career.

When KISS was getting started, they roamed around checking out other bands and singers, seeing what the crowds liked - and what they, themselves, liked. Their sound is quite unique but they have always been known for putting on one of the most exciting stage shows in rock music.

They got ideas from others that they liked and saw worked and then made them their own and added even more shit. The whole fire-breathing act by Simmons was due, in part, to Arthur Brown, as was Simmons onstage persona.

Yes, Frehley was (and is) a talented guitarist but Stanley was a born showman and Simmons was a born entrepreneur and all of the band grew to be pretty decent musicians in their own right.

Dynasty was a result of the band knuckling under (however briefly) to record label execs in the hopes of making more money by tapping into the Pop market. Fans tastes were changing. Unmasked was that, to an extent, as well. Yet they realized that 'that' wasn't who they were and went back to doing what they do best.

That's not to say that either of those albums were bad - because they weren't.

The Red Hot Chili Peppers suck ass and always have; I don't particularly care for Metallica but they're decent. Enter Sandman and their cover of Whiskey in the Jar are easily their best tunes though. Yet neither is anywhere near as good as Kiss; they aren't even in the same ballpark.

The Hall of Fame (like all the Hall of Fames) always takes forever to induct people and many noteworthy choices get overlooked and put off while others get in. That's life. They'll always spurn someone. That doesn't mean that Cream or Zeppelin don't deserve to be there and it sure doesn't mean that KISS doesn't. They paid their dues, made their mark and earned their spot.

And there is no one, living or dead, who makes (or made) music who wasn't influenced by someone else. No one has ever been completely original. And just because someone is influenced by someone doesn't mean they are ripping them off either. Neither does the fact that you not liking someone invalidate the fact that they are good musicians and it certainly doesn't make them a joke either.

Everyone has different tastes and no one is perfect, infallible or omniscient. That's why there's a board of people who decide who gets in to those Halls and who gets awards, etc...

(ripping off pop acts).....lol, that's some funny shit, man. ;D
