This is a list of that kind of TV shows that is directed to conservative minds, perhaps is a bit too hard in the old school morals or makes a big deal of liberal economics. Sometimes it´s plain and in your face, sometimes is hidden behind the drama but I think it´s there.

Of course there shoud be more here...
Can you help me?
Do you think some of these are wrong?

PS: I dont include any tv show set in the near or far past because in that shows the conservative ideals might be included just because of the time setting.
PPS: I dont include any reality or non-fiction TV shows here either.

Set in the Near Past

This tv shows have the same conservative ideas but are set in the past. The morals and ways of thinking might be right wing only to represent the timeframe.

I Am Not Sure

I need your help and opinions with these shows. Some of them might be hard to categorize and some others I haven´t watched (or not more than 1 or 2 episodes).

Are they right wing / conservative or not? Some of them have that ideology in them but perhaps in a mild way.

What do you think? I need help!

I think Dexter has 'conservative' ideas about justice. Dexter is a serial killer who kills serial killers; his idea of justice is an extension of the pro death penalty philosophy, which is held mostly by conservatives.

You know? I think you´re right. Not only the main character, the rest of them are mostly conservative. Thanks Dexter gets in the list!

24 - Torture is fine
V - Was the typical communist/socials scare propaganda. Mmm free health care well obviously they are trying to kill us all.
I might add "American Idol" just for promoting the fact that 'anyone can be a star' so long as you sign away every right as a human being that you might have. Also for promotion of image over content which is the political platform conservatives love.

Hey thanks! I´m going to include 24 right now.

V!!! Seriously? I always thought the aliens as nazis of sorts not comunists!! I´m not sure I should include any sci-fi shows anyways. What do you people think??

Also (I should have included it in the description of the list) this should be a fiction TV shows list because if I include every last non-fiction/reality show that tries to sell us some product or consumist ideology it would become boring fast!

Perhaps you ment the new V series? I was thinking in the original 1983 one!

The West Wing isn't a 'socially conservative show' but it is a secular show libertarians might agree with. In this clip, the President condemns picking and choosing bible verses.

If this list were to include libertarian shows, The Wire would be a great inclusion; the show is about the failure of the drug war. When the attorney general, Eric Holder, jokingly told the creators of the show, the creator responded he'd make another season if the inhumane drug war ended.

Firefly can be seen as libertarian or anti-capitalist; I think it's against corrupt and inefficient governments and people can easily imagine a government with opposing views being the Alliance. This essay is interesting. A couple quotes by Mal support the anti corrupt government message:
[We] never have to be under the heel of nobody ever again. No matter how long the arm of the Alliance might get, we’ll just get a little further.
That’s what governments are for, [to] get in a man’s way.

In the episode Jaynestown, Jayne is considered a Robin Hood like folk hero for accidentally giving the mudders cash. Later he admits to them the world isn't full of people like that, it's full of selfish people like himself. Jayne's idea, like Firefly in general, can be seen as a realistic and natural view of the world that society should or shouldn't try to improve upon.

First of all thanks for your interesting input and opinions. Let´s see:

West Wing: I´m not quite sure I understand if you are pro or against the inclusion in this list. I am not even sure that I get the secularism / libertarianism relation here (can't they go together?). I guess this is a show that tried not to be too Democratic-ish but is too far from the right wing to be included. Unless some one says otherwise I guess I´ll just forget about it for this list :)

The Wire: The failure of drug war is right wing-y? I fear USA´s politics are deluding me. I guess the drug war was a democrat idea so if a tv-show depicts it´s failure it means it´s against them? Is that it? I really don't get this. I´m not saying you are wrong, mind you, I´m just confused.

Firefly: I see it as libertarian in the way they live and 'only' anti-fascist or anti-totalitarist in the reasons they fight for (except for Jayne, of course, he only wants money!). The only reason I didn´t put it in the list is that it´s too ci-fi, too far from our mundane reality, but I guess he deserves to get in the list anyway.

I haven't seen West Wing, but it's created by a Democrat and it's about a Democratic president's administration, not that that isn't of interest for right-wing people. The drug war is a failure on both political sides, and it's unpopular especially among progressive and libertarian people.

King of the Hill

I was going to object to Arrested Development but I can see it, bourgeois, white collar criminal family most of them haven't worked a day in their life.

Modern Family. *running away from stones being thrown*
i know the show features a family that embraces immigrants and homosexuals, but if you look past that and into the actual plots and dialogue becomes very clear that the show is indeed very conservative. they even made a joke about obamacare recently. lol
Oh, and Bones. don't think i need to explain that one.

Sometimes is hard to see the difference between left-wing shows that throw a bone to the right wing public from time to time and those that really are conservative and include liberal themes just to make fun of them and attract liberal viewers who don´t try to see through the veil...

Thanks, MissHeels, both go in the list at least until someone says something to the contrary.
