Retell me a tale |

Sherlock Holmes if Dr Watson were the true brains behind all their famous crime solving. Kingsley and Cane are brilliant in this.
Elfflame's rating:
Yes, Scrooge has been done ad infinitum since Dickens first wrote it, but this one actually has some heart, and a whole lot of humor.
Elfflame's rating:
Not entirely a retelling here, but a suggestion that Romeo and Juliet was based on actual happenings. (Unlikely, but still amusing.)
Elfflame's rating:
The language was Shakespeare, but the setting was pure modern-day. Baz Luhrmann did an excellent job translating the Shakespearean English in a way that even modern-day teenagers could take interest in.
Elfflame's rating:
Taming of the Shrew in a modern Seattle High School. A great translation.
Elfflame's rating:
The rediculousness of the Christ tale, as told by Monty Python.
Elfflame's rating:
What if the Ogre were the hero of the fairy tales we all know and love?
Elfflame's rating:
This is not only a re-imagining, but also draws from all the old classic Hollywood horror films, to excellent effect.
Elfflame's rating:
Contradicts Sherlock Holmes canon, but what would have happened if Holmes and Watson had met while still in school?
Elfflame's rating:
Most Zorro stories these days start with an heir taking over the Zorro name, but this did it in an intriguing way by making the "heir" not only someone unrelated to the original, but also rather a clutz at first.
Elfflame's rating:
Not the original pair, but the nephew of the original and his new partner. I like this take on the idea. Not really a remake, but more a sequel. It's a good way to go about the remake idea.
Elfflame's rating:
Hamlet as told from the POV from Rosencratz and Guildenstern. An incredible and hilarious take on what happens to characters of a play when they're not "onstage."
Elfflame's rating:
King Arthur and the Knights search for the Holy Grail...sort of. Monty Python takes on Arthurian times and legends.
Elfflame's rating:
What if Peter Pan finally did grow up? What sort of adult would he be?
Elfflame's rating:
Romeo and Juliet told against the backdrop of Immigrant New York City.
Elfflame's rating:
The traditional Robin Hood tale, but portrayed by animals.
An interesting side-note here. For a bit of time in the medieval ages, there were a set of animal stories that were extremely popular among the common folk, and the main character was a fox. So this movie is almost a blending of the two ideas, in a way. Elfflame's rating:
