I'm sure most of us are adamantly against remakes, but every once in a while a remake comes along which surpasses our expectations and is actually good! It's rare, but it happens. Here are a few of my picks.

You an idiot thinking the remakes of Dawn of the Dead (boring characters and too serious for its tone), Last House on the Left (it's the same as the original only more flash and no substance) and Italian Job (cliche action flick with a slow second act and feels more of a sequel than a remake) are good when in fact they aren't.
Posted: 6 years, 7 months ago at Jan 8 23:39
And you're a fucking retard for thinking everyone has the same opinion as you. Go make your own list, you tasteless cunt.

^^^^^ lol
The Wages of Fear remake, Sorcerer is really damn good.
Posted: 6 years, 7 months ago at Jan 9 1:51
What movie is True Lies a remake of? I seem to remember the creators of GoldenEye having to change their plot because it was almost identical to True Lies when it came out, so I assumed it was an original movie.

Great idea for a list. Plus, your reply to the first comment deserves an award! lol :)
Posted: 6 years, 7 months ago at Jan 9 2:06
I haven't seen Sorcerer, but I also haven't seen The Wages of Fear. I'll have to check them out.

True Lies is an uncredited remake of a French movie called La Totale. It's a little-known fact because Jim Cameron made the movie so much his own.

Lol... Cheers Michael :)

Wow... The first comment was really bad... If I don't agree with some of your choices, it is just a matter of taste...

Anyway, I agree with you, even if 99.9 % of the remakes are worthless, some of them are still interesting.

I give my vote even if I don't think that most of those remakes are better than the original, all those remakes are all good movies and definitely worth a look.

Exactly. If a user comments on *MY* list in the most condescending way imaginable... He better be prepared for one hell of a barrage of fire in return.

you got my vote for telling that asshole to go fuck himself, and for putting the magnificent 7 at the top of your list. i love that movie. what do you think of cape fear with de niro?
Posted: 6 years, 6 months ago at Jan 24 22:41
LOL thanks mate. XD.
I have seen the Cape Fear remake, but don't remember it much. To be honest I didn't think it was great, but I will revisit it someday.

The Departed is the best remake ever, hands down! It's the only remkae that has won a best picture at the Oscars and also won for best director (Martin Scorsese), best screenplay (William Monahan), and best film editing. It's also considered one of the best gangster films ever. Do you think The Departed is the best remake?
Posted: 5 years, 7 months ago at Dec 28 14:13
It's on this list for a reason, dude :P

Finally i found someone who actually thinks Spielberg's 'War of the Worlds' is great!!!
F**K YEAH!!!!!

A fellow Dawn of the Dead remake fan? Cool!
Posted: 5 years, 7 months ago at Dec 28 19:39
Maybe an update to include True Grit? Or were you not a fan?
Posted: 5 years, 7 months ago at Dec 28 20:19
you get my vote just for the reply to your first comment. Cheers!

I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either.

*takes a bow* Thanks, bro.

Huh, I was a tad surprised to see the remake of Last House on the Left here, I was expecting to see Craven's version since it's a remake of that Bergman flick "The Virgin Spring". I'm yet to see the remake of a remake, but I should probably some day since it has Garrett Dillahunt who's always a hoot.
Posted: 5 years, 7 months ago at Dec 29 14:46
You should check out the Last House remake. It's surprisingly solid.
Posted: 5 years, 7 months ago at Dec 29 18:09
good list and choices, i only disagree a little with last house on the left, and i love youre answer to the first comment
Posted: 5 years, 7 months ago at Dec 30 22:33
SAo, my brother saw the Dawn of the Dead remake and he said it was good because it was really cheesy. Did you fell the same way?

I never normally criticise lists but the remakes of King Kong being better than the original????

IMHO most CGI is soulless compared to painstaking stop frame model stuff - there is something about the object actually existing rather than just some bunch of textured polygons conjured up by computer programmers

I'd be curious to understand your reasoning on liking these remakes - you say they dont suck but dont say why

When did I say it was better? When did I EVER say it was better? I said I liked it, didn't say it was better than the original (it is not).

You won't hear me argue with that.

I've written reviews of most of these movies, anyway. If it means that much to you, run over to each movie's page and read my review.

Another excellent list! I agree with most of these films, with the exception of The Italian Job. Just didn't sit well with me for many reasons. Anyway, thanks for the list, now I have something to reference to when my significant other and I debate about great/crappy remakes.

Side note: Were you aware that there is another Scarface remake due for 2014? Nothing is concrete, (as far as actors involved, producers, writers, etc.) but I am willing to bet $1 that it will involve some type of political commentary about the Mexican Drug Cartels.
Posted: 4 years, 7 months ago at Dec 25 4:24
Thanks for the comment, Mr. Lays!

Yeah, I've heard about the new Scarface remake. I hold absolutely no hope for it.

Very good list. Did you consider put "Little Shop of Horrors" on the list? I think it's actually superior to the previous film.
Posted: 4 years ago at Aug 7 21:07
great list, fantastic choices

It would be nice to have some succinct REASONS next to these OPINIONS. Even children give justification when asked why they like a particular rock song. Yes, they almost invariably say "It has a good beat." But at least it's a reason.

Can someone tell me why Listal's Movie trailers have not been updated with new releases since March 2013? Listal used to be my favorite site for trailers--the player much more reliable than IMDb's.

It's my list, I'll do what I want, and I've written reviews for most of these anyway, so go read them.

I dislike your comment because you're a faggot. How's that for a reason?
