I was way too easy on these films since I was a fan, but this really is a bad movie, and a cash cow. As well as being a slap in the face to any fans of the franchise. Busta Rhymes kicking Myers out a window saying "Trick or Treat motherf**ker", you've gotta be kidding.

This is the one that has definitely fallen down on another viewing. When watching the films again I just couldn't help but feel this was so rushed and superfluous. I probably just did it for Danielle Harris, and while she and Pleasance are still great, they're not enough to save the movie. It did begin to pick-up a bit in the third act in the Myers home, but just feels too rushed.

The film isn't that good, in fact it is quite ridiculous. But it at least tries to do something new, even if it does kind of defeat the purpose of Michael Myers.

Aside from the fact there's no Michael Myers and it has no story connections to the other movies it isn't that bad of a film. It's not a great movie, but it has been growing on me. The cast is just kind of alright, but Dan O'herily steals the show as the lead villain Conal Cochran, with an inspired plan to bring back the original meaning of Halloween that had been perverted by the corporate machine, by turning it against itself. The lead is where it kind of falls apart.

A very good sequel that brought Michael Myers back after his seemingly final end in HALLOWEEN 2. The movie had several good story ideas including introducing Laurie's daughter Jamie (a nice nod to Jamie Lee Curtis). But its strongest point is the performance by Danielle Harris as Jamie. She was awesome.

Why does this have such a low rating here on Listal? (Heck FREDDY'S REVENGE is somehow rated higher) This is a very good movie. Laurie as the leading lady is fantastic, and the arc her character goes through comes full circle as she finally decides to stand up to, and eventually destroy her brother. The coolest being the stare down between Laurie and Michael through the window when they first meet again. This is where the story ends to me.

Halloween II (1981)

This is essentially the second half of a much larger film with the original movie. While it's gorier than the first it does manage to keep the same type of slower pacing and feel of suspense and dread the first got down perfectly.

Halloween (1978)

A true masterpiece of horror. While PSYCHO inspired, and TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE created the slasher genre this was this film that perfected and popularized it. It manages to remain scary without using over the top gore and cheap tricks even to this day.

For my second list for RANK THE FRANCHISE I've decided to do the Halloween series.

The funniest thing I see about it though is how many similar rankings these films have to the ELM STREET list.

I've never watched all of the Halloween films for some reason, just the first 3 and Rob Zombie's remakes (all of which I enjoyed). This is a reminder I should at least give a couple others a chance.

Halloween 5 is the worst, without a doubt.
The mask in HAlloween 4 was weak. And I did not like the rednecks. But I do think 4 is the second best sequel.
HAlloween:Res. had to deal with the fact that Jamie Lee Curtis did not want to do a full movie. I rank Res. above 5.

PS:Halloween H:20 feels more like a Scream film, then a HAlloween film.
