Probably the most perfect album I have ever heard, it's music is just plainly perfect, and I can't imagine many songs as perfect as "alone again or", and in none of their albums before this did they appear as perfect as in this one, Arthur lee's voice is truly haunting.
And every time I listen to this albums it makes me yearn to be born decades ago.

Odessey and Oracle - The Zombies
There are so many incredible things in this album that it is impossible to list them.
This album is often considered one of the least appreciated gems of the 60s and I can't help but agree with that fact, it may be the zombies only album but I can't imagine that they could top it.

Made by pink floyd.... Doesn't that just tell you that it was going to be amazing and yes, it is, I'm a massive Pink floyd fan, especially Syd Barret, so my opinion may be bias but I consider it one if the best albums ever released despite the lack of attention it gets because of the impact of its younger brothers "dark side" and "the wall" .

Surrealistic Pillow - Jefferson Airplane
"White Rabbit" the most known song from this album has become the soundtrack to drug use everywhere, so if that doesn't show you it's influence I don't know what will. It's a brilliant album made by gods in the psychedelic music industry.

Electric Ladyland - The Jimi Hendrix Experience
I originally wasn't going to include jimi on this list as I didn't want to put him into a box (genre-wise) but this album is too incredible to be ignored (Are You Experienced almost got on the list too).

The Doors - The Doors
The doors are a brilliant band who despite only going for 4 years (with jim morrison) still left a massive impact in the musical business, Jim's voice is amazing in this, and it is virtually flawless. The first and best doors album in my opinion.

Revolver - The Beatles
The beatles, the one band everybody expected to be here, with their most popular album ever, why not sgt peppers? Too pop. why not magical mystery tour? Too pop again. Revolver is the beginning of all things psychedelic and I love them for that fact, if not for their other awesome qualities.

The United States of America - The United States of America
Probably the most unlikely choice of the lot, I doubt anyone has even heard of them but, they are truly amazing, and this album is just one of those albums which suprises you at each turn.
Looking for a album that doesn't experiment? You're on the wrong list

Disraeli Gears - Cream_IV
Words don't describe it's awesomeness, I love it as much as I could ever love a woman.
Eric Clapton is on the guitar, ginger baker is on drums, and jack Bruce in on bass.... Perfection....at its most perfect.
Not to mention the songs on here. Please I beg you check this album out.

Lonerism - Tame Impala
The only album on here released in this millennium and also the only Australian album on here. It's a modern day masterpiece, a album for anyone brave enough, and truly the only album released this year worth it's weight in salt

Magical Mystery Tour is fun; I understood one of your references. *So happy*.

And there was really a band called "The United States of America", which I have never even *heard* of. Trippy.

Edit: Oh, and the Doors seems really cool; they seem like the Beatles. (Actually, I think that the Turtles are like the Beatles too; they are just very small. And, you know, although the English are much closer to us than the old Greeks, sometimes it's fun if someone's from America. Oh no, wait, The Doors are from California too. You know, once on the music channel-- and I think it's impossible to know all of the people on the music channel-- were from New Jersey, I was so happy. Even though it doesn't matter, actually. "I kept trying to explain to the guy that it was a Liverpool accent." That was so funny. I love Paul. Yeah, I mean, if someone's not from your town, they might as well be from.... England. Although not old Greece. It's not like the Beach Boys would.... well, actually I do live near the beach, but the Methodists live here. It's not Kokomo. Anyway. This was actually going to be very brief statement. My mom is listening to the classical music guy talk right now. I like music, but I hate the way that people talk about it. I guess that I've been talking about it.}

But anyway, yeah, some bands are kinda full of it, but the Doors seem pretty good; they seem real. {Like, all of the Beatles are real. Even John is real, even though he's John.}

{And also actually California and England are about as far away from Jersey, so that it really doesn't matter, in addition to it not mattering at all, really.}

needs Todd Rundgren - A Wizard A True Star...which for some reason ALWAYS gets left off of lists of this type...I recall one review of the album in the UK music press which likened Rundgren to a one man Beatles/Hendrix/Zappa mix and Wizard one of the apexes of music - and amazingly its one of the rare occasions you can agree with the hype. Personally I love the way Rundgren gets catchy hooks/riffs/melodies and then simply gets bored repeating them and just throws them away and continues to experiment

PS Rundgren also did a remix of Tame Imapala's Elephant and the album Lonerism is meant to have been heavily inspired by Wizard

oh you may want to check Dukes Of The Stratosphere

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8ah5m_0848

In case you are unaware Dukes was an alternative/imaginary(?) band created by members of the new wave/pop band XTC who were heavily influenced by the Beatles and as Dukes they really indulged in the psychadaelia

another one I forgot ... The Monkees Head soundtrack. Yes the group were manufactured and very contrived BUT there were damn fine songs in their collection
