Not so great, messed up cinema
Takashi Miike is not without talent, but you'd never know by watching this garbage. An intriguing concept about exploiting and vilifying society's obsession with reality TV that goes horribly...no where. Vile, stupid, and amatuerish.
Xanadon't's rating:
Tasteless, pointless trash with no redeeming merit. Shot quite well which makes it either more disappointing or more horrifying. Take your pick.

Another interesting concept that goes stale about half way through. I kind of get the cult status thing, but have a hard time believing there are truly that many people out there that enjoyed this film.
Xanadon't's rating:
I'm not sure why, but I wanted to like this film. And parts of me still want to defend it. But I just can't give it my recommendation with a clear conscience. And yes, there are some truly horrifying things going on here.

Someday I'll rewatch this to see if my opinion changes. But as it stands I felt like there was a lot of self-important postering going on here. But at least it drew some kind of response out of me.
Xanadon't's rating:
Yes, that' right, I didn't care for this film. I've got plenty of personal, long-winded reasons, but none of them are more interesting than Roger Ebert's review. Worth a look if you're curious.
Xanadon't's rating:
Another swing and miss from Terry Gilliam. Shame.
Xanadon't's rating:
A shitty movie made around some generally questionable decision-making.
