Takashi Miike is not without talent, but you'd never know by watching this garbage. An intriguing concept about exploiting and vilifying society's obsession with reality TV that goes horribly...no where. Vile, stupid, and amatuerish.
Another interesting concept that goes stale about half way through. I kind of get the cult status thing, but have a hard time believing there are truly that many people out there that enjoyed this film.
I'm not sure why, but I wanted to like this film. And parts of me still want to defend it. But I just can't give it my recommendation with a clear conscience. And yes, there are some truly horrifying things going on here.
A shitty movie made around some generally questionable decision-making.
I love a good, fucked up movie as much as anyone, but try to recognize when I'm being duped. There's a lot of trash out there. I try not to see em. These are the ones that fooled me. And, yes, I know I'm in the minority on "Clockwork".
