1. Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
The Premise: Williams dressed up as an aged woman in a bid to remain close to his estranged kids, resulting in many comical mishaps and fun for all the family along the way.

The Reality: He was such a terrible husband that his wife divorced him and now he has forced them to live a life of parental squabbling in a broken home!

2. Good Morning, Vietnam (1987)
The Premise: With a few laughs, some unorthodox radio shows and a few blacklisted rock and roll tunes, Williams can cheer up the US Armed Forces who are being slaughtered daily in Vietnam.

The Reality: In the end, 60,000 American soldiers died for... pretty much no reason. Not even jokes could stop the bullets of the ruthless Viet Cong!

3. Hook (1991)
The Premise: Despite being overweight and old, with a bit of moral support and the power of memories, Peter Pan can become the legend of old and defeat all that stand in his way!

The Reality: Orphans aren't this happy, ever. And it takes a kidnapping to reunite a poor father with his love-depleted children!

4. Jack (1996)
The Premise: Even with a debilitating disease, Jack is just one of the guys and everyone will just accept him, just the way he is! No matter how short your life, you should always live it to the max.

The Reality: Jack has severely exaggerated case of Werner syndrome. He'll probably be dead by 20 if he really does age 4 times quicker than normal! That's probably just a couple of years after the final scenes. That's just not funny!

5. Happy Feet (2006)
The Premise: A penguin is a socially outcast and inadvertently wins a new found respect for his species from humanity. Human beings don't care much that penguins can speak and sing, but when they notice they can dance - oh boy!

The Reality: Chronic overfishing in the polar seas still happens, as well as the small problem of Global Warming that penguins have to deal with! And they get hunted by Killer whales, there's nothing happy about being a penguin. Bloody cold too.

6. FernGully: The Last Rainforest (1992)
The Premise: If humanity only saw things from the animals and forest dwellers' side. Then they wouldn't go tearing down jungles left, right and centre. A love story between man and fairy will teach us to understand one another!

The Reality: Over 13 million hectares of forest are lost each year as a result of deforestation schemes. Not to mention the fact that Williams is some bizarre creature that is the result of sickening animal experimentation! Let's all make a joke about that, Williams!

7. Dead Poets Society (1989)
The Premise: Unorthodox teaching methods will prompt intelligent young men to follow a non-productive career in literary professions, instead of more worthwhile pursuits, like the medical service!

The Reality: Unorthodox teaching methods breed classroom disruption, fighting and suicidal tendencies.
The Flagship's rating:

People who added this item 197  Average listal rating (104 ratings) 6.5  IMDB Rating 6.2
8. Jakob the Liar (1999)
The Premise: With a little bit of hope, we can keep the dream alive and get through anything. No adversity is too big. Even the Holocaust is all right when Robin Williams is involved!

The Reality: The Holocaust killed about 6,000,000 'hopeful' humans. The adversity of gas chambers and bullets were just too much to overturn with jokes and hope.
The Flagship's rating:

Robin Williams has a long, proud and distinguished career. I'll never forget growing up with some of his more child-friendly performances and cameos on Sesame Street. What a guy.

But as I grew up, I couldn't help but notice that Williams has an incredible penchant for making comedy from the most awful of circumstances. It's like no matter what humanitarian, medical or biblical crisis life throws at him, he'll be able to defeat it with nothing more than a few jokes! Here's the proof.
