Sean Combs was originally known as Puff Daddy and then as P. Diddy. In August 2005, he changed his stage name to simply Diddy. He continues to use the name P. Diddy in New Zealand and the United Kingdom, the latter after a legal battle with another artist, Richard "Diddy" Dearlove. In June 2008, Combs' representative denied rumors of another name change.

Originalmente chamados de Majesty, mudaram o nome para o de um teatro na vizinhança em Los Angles.
Led Zeppelin
O baterista do the Who, Keith Moon, achou que a banda de Jimmy Page, que ainda se chamava The New Yardbirds, era pesada como chumbo e flutuava como um Zepelim. Daí Lead Zeppelin (Zepelim de Chumbo). Um Zepelin trata-se de um balão dirigível em forma de charuto. Mais tarde o nome foi mudado para Led Zeppelin para não ter dúvidas quanto à pronúncia.
Linkin Park
A banda se chamava "Hybrid Theory", mudou o nome para "Linkin Park" por questões legais porque já existia uma outra banda com esse nome. Eles escolheram esse nome porque o Chester Bennington (vocalista) costumava dirigir pelo Lincon Park em Santa Mônica (que era uma vizinhança onde os desabrigados costumavam ir) e esse nome ganhou a atenção de todos por sua boa sonoridade. Eles mudaram alguma coisinha no nome porque assim eles poderiam comprar o domínio pois o linconpark.com era muito caro.
