Top Ten Worst Films of 2011 - Xanadon't
Tasteless sure, but the real crime here is how painfully unfunny it is. This meandering mess of a film was far worse than its poor reviews indicate.
Xanadon't's rating:
It's been so long, I struggle to remember just how stupid this one is. I remember Winona Ryder sucking really hard. And Vince Vaughn is the most tired, bothersome, unfunny sack of Vince Vaughn we've seen yet. And for the love of fuck, can somebody explain to me just what exactly is the appeal of Kevin James? Why is he in movies?
Xanadon't's rating:
About the most underwhelming star-studded genre mash-up imaginable. While I'm not the biggest fan on the planet of Jon Favreau's Iron Man films, I still thought it reasonable to expect more from this. What's unreasonable is the fact that I didn't walk out on it early. What a bore.
Xanadon't's rating:
Kevin Smith directs an identity-crisis thriller of sorts while simultaneously attempting to suck his own dick. (If you find that statement startling and unnecessarily crass, you may not get the reference. And you may not have seen Red State.)
Xanadon't's rating:
Though it's been a long time, I remember rather liking Me and You and Everyone We Know. But I had no patience for this. Its wasted creativity is symptomatic of everything that's wrong with too many indie efforts today.
Xanadon't's rating:
I didn't dislike this film because I loved the first one and can't believe it's been marred by a shitty remake-- I haven't seen the original. I disliked it because this movie mostly sucks.
Xanadon't's rating:
This movie offers much to be admired in the way of visual art. A lot of it looks terrific. But I think it fails in too many ways that a good film doesn't fail to receive the attention and praise it has.
Xanadon't's rating:
Oh, surprise, another Lars van Trier film about miserable people isolated from greater society, treating one another like shit. Awesome.
Xanadon't's rating:
I wanted so much to like this little indie-darling of a film. It had so much potential. But I'm afraid it probably takes the crown for biggest disappointment of the year.
Xanadon't's rating:
This is another one that baffles me when it comes to how well it was received by many critics.
I didn't really dislike the film so much, but I certainly didn't like it. And at the number ten spot, I don't even care to single Contagion out so much as use it as a generic placeholder for the generic, unremarkable films that I see in any given year. Xanadon't's rating:

As for best of 2011 lists, I haven't even seen enough films to have a top 5 so my list won't be out until late next year at the rate I'm going. You'll definitely get yours out ahead of me.
I'm curious about most of these films that I haven't seen and don't mind watching bad ones, really.
I only strongly disagree with you on The Tree Of Life.
@TrekMedic- Well certainly don't avoid Melancholia and Another Earth solely on the account of me. They're both movies with many things to their credit, but simply frustrated me in too many ways to gain my favor. You're take could be easily very different.
@SJMJ91- Thanks! And yes, Tree of Life is one of those that will be strongly disagreed upon for years.
@renan- Glad I'm not alone on that.
@Zaishe- Yep, failure is the right word.
Thanks for steering me away from Bad Teacher, I will continue to avoid it like the plague - Having been properly warned, I do still plan on watching Cowboys & Aliens, if only for the it's so bad it might actually be good factor.
