My Top Ps2 Games - Must Plays!

This is why my friend's play video games. Star Wars Battlefront was a dumb idea when I heard about it. You're an average soldier on the battlefield? Who wants to be a stormtrooper anyway? Oh wait, I do! Everything about this game is awesome. Trooper classes, vehicles, awesome movie-like maps. If you like Star Wars, you'll love this game.

Everything about Battlefront 1 plus! While they ditched the ability to get down on your stomach and army crawl (no one noticed except me), they added in the ability to play as heros. While it slightly deters from being the "average soldier" they keep it pretty balanced. An HD Ps3 remake of these two should be in the works.

Devil May Cry is something different. It's dark, it's sort of scary, and it's awesome. A hack-n-slash with a difficulty ramp that's almost vertical, DMC probably has more broken controllers than any other game. The story and voice acting are also great. If you've already played any others, going back to DMC is even more challenging from the limited controllers. Either way though, you have to play it.

My favorite in the DMC series. DMC3 is technically a prequel to the series. Dante is his hilarious smack-talking self and he goes after his twin brother Vergil. New weapons and moves just add to the awesomeness that is Dante.

The best mix of songs for any Dance Dance Revolution fan. DDRMAX was my first DDR and perhaps that's why it makes the list and the others don't. If you're a fan of movin and groovin then this is a DDR you shouldn't pass up.

This game got mixed reviews. It takes a turn from traditional RPG's and adds in the gambit system. Active enemies are outside of towns so there's no transferring to a battle screen. You set up gambits to tell your characters what to do. The storyline is your classic stop the bad empire from taking over the world, but it's still good. Voice acting also well done, if you like RPG's it's totally worth playing. That and my girlfriend who is now my wife bought it for me back when it was new.

This is why I bought my Ps2. I wanted one for awhile, but after playing GTA3 at a friend's house I went home, coughed up the dough and bought my ps2. Sandbox environment in 3d, you could go anywhere and do anything. Storyline was forgetful but that doesn't really matter when the gameplay is so good.

Vice City was the second GTA on the Ps2. Basically GTA3.2 Vice City was a new city for us to explore and take over as a drug lord. Again, story is ultimately forgettable (though slightly taken from the movie Scarface) but the gameplay still rocks. They added in some new weapons, motorcycles and helicopters. If I only had one GTA for the Ps2, it would be this one.

My first Ps2 game, I really liked Tony Hawk on the Ps1 and couldn't resist the updated graphics on 3. This was a great rendition to the series with some great skate parks.

Oh my gosh I spent so much time in college playing this game. Good FPS controllers? Check. Funny and fun story? Check. 4 player splitscreen (yeah I had a multitap)? Check. MONKEYS WITH PLASMA RIFLES!?!?! CHECK! This game should have been a Halo killer with it's quick-snap controllers, fast gameplay, and humorous characters. I always preferred this over other shooters on my Ps2.

While my parents didn't stop me from playing video games, they didn't really always like it. Fortunately they still bought me this awesome game for Christmas one year. Two Towers only lets you play as Legolas, Aragorn, or Gimili, but it's still awesome. The controls are tight and the graphics were awesome for the time. All that and the game was tough near the end. The last few levels give you a serious feeling of accomplishment.

Everyone likes ninjas. Shinobi is a great ninja game. The controls are really good and let you really feel like a ninja. The story is forgettable, I honestly don't even remember exactly what it was about, but I remember having fun slashing bad guys. All that, and running around in circles to mess with the super long scarf that he wore for no apparent reason.

I liked the TMNT movie and I liked this game. Yes it lacks 4 player co-op (as most ninja turtles games do) but once you get past that it's a lot of fun. The controls are good, the story is a mediocre rendition of the movie's, but the gameplay is turtles! I enjoyed it, any ninja turtles fan would too.

The NBA Street series is the continuation of NBA Jam from the SNES, in my opinion. 2v2 on the streets the game is more about style than about points (although you still have to win). Over-the-top moves score you points and let you unlock other cool basketball players and stuff. This game was lots of fun with friends.

I know I was surprised too. The gameplay in this game is actually pretty awesome, I almost paid full price for this game like right when it came out, it's that good. Episode III was easily my favorite of the prequels and this game is also a fav. The plot pretty much follows the movie, but the Jedi battles in this game were epic beyond anything the Ps2 had to offer at the time. Not only that, you could do 1-on-1 fights like Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat style and fight your friends.

If you're cool enough to know about Avatar: The Last Airbender before Shaymaylan screwed it up with the live-action movie then you know how awesome this game is. Burning Earth is loosely based on the 2nd season where Aang is learning earth-bending. Gameplay is fun and it holds the humor of the series well. Oh all that and they threw in a 1v1 fighting game you can play against the CPU or a friend! You can pick most of the characters, even Momo!
