Not only this is the best RPG I've every played, but also the most addicting. It's a major improvement over Oblivion in many ways. And it's one of those 150+ (including all DLC's and how much time I completed the majority of) hours of game time that is worth investing into.

Fallout 3 - Xbox 360
This is basically The Elder Scrolls with guns, which I don't think it's a bad thing at all, really. After playing an Elder Scrolls game, you would be thinking there should be a game like that, but with firearms and other modern technology.

A 100+ journey with a great cast of colorful characters, a variety of different choices, outcomes, and consequences, brilliant voice acting, loads of DLC's, and sublime writing.

It's highly recommended to download the extended cut of ME3 to give the players more closure and satisfaction after the completion of the trilogy.

I really wish I could see a current-gen remaster of all three games with some new additions, most especially the first installment. Also, either give the third installment more satisfying closures and fix more plot inconsistencies, or restore the arguably better original leaked ending with more polish to it.

Final Fantasy III (VI) - Super famicom and SNES
Widely considered the best Final Fantasy game and RPG's, and I can see why. It has a large cast of characters, a great villain, an apocalyptic storyline with some deliciously cheesy dialogue by Ted Woolsey, and a killer soundtrack by Nobuo Uematsu.

Xenoblade Chronicles - Nintendo Wii
This game is huge. You'll be spending over a 100 hours. It has over 400 sidequests with a variety of choices and dozens of collectables. You'll also be building up relationships between not only your characters, but hundreds of NPC's as well.

A must play for both gamers and RPG fans alike. It has great characters and story, and a brilliant soundtrack.

Fire Emblem Awakening - Nintendo 3DS
This is the ultimate Fire Emblem package to date. It has almost everything for both casual and core gamers to enjoy. The replay value of the game is huge, thanks to the support and marriage system playing a more pivotal role, reclassing characters to learn new skills, and DLC (nearly $60, including taxes, if you buy all every single pack).

This is one RPG that both gamers and RPG enthusiasts shouldn't overlook, thanks to its great writing and wonderful soundtrack.

The best Mario RPG to date, thanks to its clever and hilarious storyline (the Bowser segments are priceless), a better gameplay presentation than its predecessor, and a more memorable soundtrack.

It may be overhyped, but it's still a great game. I am confident that the remake will be even better.

Why don't we have a true sequel or spiritual successor to this game?

BioShock Infinite - Xbox 360
The gameplay has improved and feels more survival horror than the original, making it a bit more difficult, especially at 1999 Mode. Or in other words, you feel less like a god or a superhuman.

This game might be a bit too easy, unless you're going for the achievements/trophies. But its great story and awe really make up for it.

The World Ends with You - Nintendo DS
This game is so underrated. The controls will take time to get used to, but it's still a fun game. It has a good cast of characters, a nice soundtrack with a good mix between J-pop, rap, & techno music, and great longevity for all of the items and badges to collect and level up.

This is an improvement over its predecessor, thanks to its better presentation, stronger storyline and characters, and being more free-roam oriented.

More lively battles, a great soundtrack, and well-developed characters and story makes this a worthy installment to the series.

Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones - Game Boy Advance
It might be a bit easy compared to the previous installment due to maps where you can level grind and farm characters before moving on into the next chapter. But it is useful for newcomers of the series or casual gamers.

It looks so outdated compared to Skyrim, in terms of graphics and overall presentation. But it was still an impressive RPG when it was first released.

Shining Force - Sega Genesis and Mega Drive
Fans of the Fire Emblem series or Final Fantasy Tactics will like this one. The game starts out slow at first, mostly for the first half. But when you get the best or better characters, the game starts to get kicking. The presentation and menus are rather dated and take time to get used to, however. Still, it's a good tactic RPG that is worth playing.

Phantasy Star IV - Sega Genesis and Mega Drive
It's a major improvement over PSII, making it the best installment of the original series, in terms of presentation and pacing. It still keeps the semi-high difficulty of the previous installments intact without making it too easy or too hard. And it doesn't require level grinding as much, either.

Phantasy Star II - Sega Genesis and Mega Drive
This game is about as hardcore as the last PS game, but it's a bit more tough, IMO. Like its predecessor, it requires leveling grinding and patience to get through the big, difficult, and tedious dungeons. But still, it's a good RPG with solid storytelling and characterization. Some of my major problems are that it lacks item descriptions, mostly due to the limited data. And it lacks the ability to sprint to go through dungeons quicker and backtracking.

Phantasy Star - Sega Master System
This game does require level grinding to make it through the difficult dungeons. And the gameplay menus is real dated. But it's still an important RPG and a technical marvel in video gaming. Even today, the 8-bit graphics do hold up pretty well.
