My mate Lud

Sort by: Showing 8 items
Average listal rating (2132 ratings) 8
1. Tom Hanks
Nickname: Tom Hanks
Identical traits: Curly hair, morally unquestionable, usually long suffering

Why? My made Lud and Tom Hanks might as well be brothers from another mother. A mother that had twins about forty years apart that is... They have exactly the same faces and level of respect from myself.
The Flagship's rating:

Average listal rating (9 ratings) 4.9
2. Frank Skinner
Nickname: Frank Skinner
Identical traits: Curly hair, lame

Why? Although Frank Skinner and Tom Hanks don't really look alike, my mate Lud looks exactly like both of them! Frank Skinner also has insult potential, because the real Frank Skinner is really lame.

Average listal rating (648 ratings) 7.7
3. Cillian Murphy
Nickname: Cillian
Identical traits: Gormless expression, piercing gaze.

Why? In a single photo taken of my mate Lud, he looked a bit like Cillian Murphy. Both of them are skinny heartthrobs too.

Average listal rating (484 ratings) 8.4
4. Jimi Hendrix
Nickname: Hendrix
Identical traits: Scruffy hair, Class A drugs

Why? One day, my mate Lud put on a party hat; the kind you get out of Christmas crackers. The resemblance to Jimi Hendrix wearing a bandanna was instantly what jumped to the forefront of my mind and the nickname was born. I even ran this one by him, and he appreciated it. That's probably why it didn't catch on.

Average listal rating (680 ratings) 7.8
5. Bob Dylan
Nickname: Dylan
Identical traits: Scruffy hair, always miserable, weedy, thorn in the side of everyone

Why? The longer my mate Lud grows his hair, the wilder it gets, almost always resulting in something that resembles Dylan in this picture. They're both always whinging about some injustice or another as well.
The Flagship's rating:

Average listal rating (338 ratings) 7.3
6. The Strokes
Nickname: That geezer from The Strokes
Identical traits: Scenester, Scruffy curly hair

Why? I never bothered to learn the actual name of the guy I was referring to with this short lived insult, but it works by replacing The Strokes with any currently trendy indie band. They all seem to love rocking the afro.
The Flagship's rating:

Average listal rating (10 ratings) 4.2
7. Margaret Thatcher
Nickname: Margaret Thatcher
Identical traits: Iron-willed, stern disciplinarian, hated by everyone, strict authority figure,

Why? For their shared love of all things authoritarian and strict, and the fact that he dresses up as her and you couldn't even tell he was in fancy dress.

Average listal rating (110 ratings) 7.6
8. Peter Falk
Nickname: Columbo
Identical traits: Dirtyness, scruffy hair

Why? The proof is in the pudding. They manage to both get by without putting any effort into their personal appearance. I'll be field testing 'Columbo' some time this year!
The Flagship's rating:

My old pal Lloyd has garnered more than his fair share of nicknames over the past few years. Whether called them in jest, as an insult, or as a way of endearment, barely any of them have stuck.

The more of the following criteria that a person fits, the more effective the nickname!

* Scruffy, curly, unkempt hair
* Dirtiness
* Morally unquestionable
* A strict authority figure
