Most of them are abominable, however once in a while; the spin-off out does the original. This is a list of spinoff shows, in which one character of the location/situation is carried across from one show to another. i.e. Frasier Crane from Cheers to 'Frasier' the series.

This is a list for spin offs from one television show to another; it does not include TV spin offs from movies or games; such a 'Timon and Pumbaa', from 'The Lion King'.

Missing:

- Law and Order SVU and Law and Order Criminal Intent (from Law and Order)
- Melrose Place (from Beverly Hills 90210)
- Degrassi: The Next Generation (from Degrassi Jr. High/Degrassi High, which were both spinoffs from The Kids of Degrassi St. Degrassi: Next Gen was well over a decade after Degrassi High ended, but they got several actors to do the next show - as adults and parents to the new group of teens.)
- Kung Fu: The Legend Continues (from Kung Fu. Same actor - David Carradine)
- all of Star Trek spinoffs (from Star Trek)
- there was an X-files spinoff but i think it was very shortlived. never was a fan, but they filmed it in my hometown.

A couple of suggestions .. Crusade - Spin off from Babylon 5.
Tucker's Luck - Spin off from Grange Hill.

Also Lemona, im in a bit of a debate over whether, 'next generation', 'the legend continues' kinda things are spin-offs or just series'.

I must say this is a great list!

and I'd just like to add that I think this list is missing:
Private Practice- Dr. Addison Montgomery (from Grey's Anatomy)
Absolutely Fabulous (Ab Fab) - (from French and Saunders more specificity the sketch: Modern Mother and Daughter.)

And Ray Carling and Chris Skelton that were in both Life on March and Ashes to Ashes

You left out "CSI: NY" another spinoff of Crime Scene Investigation.
