My Date Movies
I saw this a few weeks after it came out. It's not the best movie, and the only thing it shares with the books is the name, but I enjoyed the movie with Mike, even if it meant seeing THIS with him:
![]() This is, however, one of his favorite movies, and started him into the books. I should warn though, he's an explosions and action type of guy. Nonetheless, I recommend this movie for dates. Dierdre's rating:
I love this movie, and it is certainly one of my favorites, but perhaps not the best choice for a date movie. It's not only terrifying, but it's not for everyone. Another one I saw with Mike.
He enjoyed it, thoroughly, and said the movie was "artistic, but scared [him] shitless." Not a good movie for a first date, but might be good if you're both into Saw II+Swan Lake mashups. ![]() Dierdre's rating:
Not one of my favorite movies, actually, I hated it. I felt bad for dragging Mike to it and was sorry I wasted $10 on a movie about series of intricately woven nightmares which wasn't Inception.
He hated it as well. I did, however, hear good things from my female friends. Perhaps it was more enjoyable for people who like the chick-flick/rom-com genre. ![]() Dierdre's rating:
I watched this one with Mike on my couch. I enjoyed it, but I like the Prequels (with Natalie Portman) more.
I'm a Trekkie, and felt a bit like I was betraying my fellow fans by watching this, but Mike is, unfortunately, a Star Wars fanatic. Mike, of course, loves these movies, but I'm impartial towards them. I don't think this is a great choice for a date movie unless you two are coming back from a Star Wars convention. Then, of course, it's perfect! ![]() Dierdre's rating:
Another movie Mike brought over and we watched on my lovely couch. I did not enjoy this one, at all. Personally, G.I. Joes don't hold any sentimental or nostalgic value to them. That aside, I didn't think it was a great movie either.
Mike disagrees. I think he just liked the explosions. I'm not a fan of this one for a date movie. Don't be fooled by the awesome ninjas! ![]() Dierdre's rating:
I saw this with my ex-boyfriend, Andy. He was a sweetheart, but even he had some rather colorful things to say about this movie. It ruined both his and my view of Dragonball as kids.
I cannot capitalize enough, DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, WATCH THIS MOVIE. ![]() Actually, the movie abruptly stopped thirty minutes in, so thankfully we got our money back as well as getting a pass for a next movie free! Dierdre's rating:
I'm not a fan of movies like this, the whole fake documentary thing. I saw this in theaters with Mike when it came out. He loved this movie, and I had to admit it wasn't bad. It's a good movie to watch, even if you're not into the alien abduction theories.
I recommend this movie for dates, with discretion. ![]() Dierdre's rating:
I saw this movie with Mike in theaters, as date movies go, it wasn't bad for a comedy.
The jokes were raunchy, and it was an interesting take on fairy tales. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and while it wasn't a perfect movie by any means, it was lighthearted, though sometimes a little disgusting. Mike, as well, enjoyed the movie. "Your Highness" had its funny moments. ![]() Dierdre's rating:
Just another bored day on my couch. Both of us had already seen it and love the movie, but I thought I'd put it on this list.
Love. Dierdre's rating:
:/ I still haven't figured out if I like this movie or not. On one hand, it had fantastic scenes and fantasy elements. On the other, it was just plain weird.
Michael and I enjoyed watching it, for the most part. We just don't know how to interpret it at all. Dierdre's rating:
