My Alternate Oscar List
2011
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): The King's Speech
My Pick: Inception There is nothing wrong with this one, actually I did like it very much, but the best film of the year....I am not quite sure.
santanu's rating:
By far this one was the best film of 2010. It blew my head completely.
santanu's rating:
2010
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): The Hurt Locker
My Pick: Inglourious Bssterds The film at best was good in patches. In totality it drags too much in places.
santanu's rating:
It was a delight to watch. The long interrogation sessions were too much to handle and Tarantino's quirky direction took the film to an another level.
santanu's rating:
2009
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): Slumdog Millionaire
My Pick: The Dark Knight I can't even stand this one and the fact that I belong to the same place the movie is based upon, it failed to move me.
santanu's rating:
This one did not even bag the nomination and to me this will be one of the ten best films of the decade.
santanu's rating:
2008
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): No country for Old Men
My Pick: No Country for Old Men Distant Second: Michael Clayton The Oscars were dead right this time. No Country for Old Men was too good to ignore.

santanu's rating:
2007
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): The Departed
My Pick: The Departed. Distant Second: Babel Atlast a small time director(!) named Martin Scorsese bagged an Oscar!!! Though it wasn't among his best but still it was good enough to grab the Oscar.

I liked this one very much, a different year could have changed it's fate.
santanu's rating:
2006
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): Crash

santanu's rating:
My pick for the year which drove me crazy. Great direction and a beautiful cast made it impeccable. The ending scene never fades away even after the credits start to roll.
santanu's rating:
2005

This what I call could have been an actual winner.
santanu's rating:
2002
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): A Beautiful Mind
My Pick: A beautiful Mind Distant Second: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring Awesome movie, guess this time the jury had very little to do.

santanu's rating:
2000
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): American Beauty

santanu's rating:
1999
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): Shakespeare In Love
My Pick: Saving Private Ryan Shakespeare in love getting an Oscar..are you kidding me.

santanu's rating:
1998

santanu's rating:
1993
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): Unforgiven
My Pick: Unforgiven Distant Second: Scent of A woman I loved it just because of that awesome act by Al Pacino
santanu's rating:
1992
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): The Silence of the Lambs
My Pick: The Silence of the Lambs Distant Second: Nothing Could Be Even Close The jury did not have much option, besides it was a worthy selection.
santanu's rating:
1991
Best Motion Picture of the Year(Oscar): Dances with Wolves
