I loved Spirited away and Amelie but many of my friends didn't see it that way

Not entirely random, in that I do consciously decide what goes there. But not always what I consider the "best" film of the year either.

With some years, yes, there's one that stands out head & shoulders above the rest. In this case there're a couple that I fluctuate on when considering my Top movie of the year, "Amelie" being one of them.

Guess I need to check out Mulholland Dr one of these years.

Surprised you still haven't seen Ichi the Killer...pretty sure you'd dig it. And I liked Moulin Rouge! far more than expected.

@the giraffe- I'll watch Ichi the day you watch Mulholland. Deal?

@Bml93- actually I feel like it was pretty comparable overall to the years on either side. The big difference perhaps is that one didn't have to dig as deep, as the Wide Release films were probably better on the whole than many years.
