Movies you didn't know were based on books
A very bizarre example. People who do think this is based on a book assumes it is based on "2001: A Space Odyssey" by Arthur C. Clarke, but actually it's based on an earlier short story of his called, "The Sentinel." The novel was an expansion that was written after the script was finished.

Though few people know this film exists, the novel is even more obscure. It's based on "Me Two" by Edwin Davis.

Lots of James Bond novels were written by Ian Fleming, the first one being "Casino Royale". Dr. No was the 6th novel, but for some reason was made into a film first.

This is loosely based on an old novel called "Oil!" by Upton Sinclair. If that name sounds familiar, it's probably because he's the same guy that wrote "The Jungle."

This was based on a spoof of detective novels called "Who Censored Roger Rabbit?" by Gary K. Wolf. There is a sequel called "Who P-P-P-Plugged Roger Rabbit?" but it's more connected to the movie than the book.
