English LK

LK is the short version of Leistungskurs, which indicates that it is a course with extra content and stuff :)

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
My English teacher loves this movie, so she decided to show it to us on field day (hope that works for "Wandertag") instead of going kiteflying :)

I enjoyed it a lot and bought the movie later on :)

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
Actually I can't remember so well :/
I remember that the movie is about friendship, working difficulties, mental illness and a little bit also discrimination. Maybe it was just because Steinbeck is a classic (at least I think so ^^). We read the book at first and I was ill when we watched the movie in class but I borrowed the DVD from my teacher :)

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
We read the book (I loved it) and then watched the movie. It was interesting to see such an old movie, but I'm not sure how to rate it.

We read the book because the topic was immigration(?), discrimination and segregation.

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
Again, we read the book.
Because it's a classic and because it deals with prejudices, stereotypes and roles in a community.

Nice "older" movie again :)

East is East (1999)

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
This movie was shown to us because it deals with immigration into Britain, ethnic diverstiy, finding a national identity and integration.
It was not like a typcial school movie, which was nice :)

Brick Lane (2007)

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
Another movie dealing with immigration and the things named at East is East.

We all hated that film, you can see my review if you want to.

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
Our current topic is Australia. We read about "The Stolen Generation" and then watched the movie.
I expected something different, for example seeing what the life in these missionaries was like and not how the three girls escape and try to get home.
It was a good movie, though. It contained barely any brutality but very beautiful pictures.

Btw, it was interesting to see Kenneth Branagh in another role as Professor Lockhart from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets ;)

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
The topic of the third semestre is Globalization, which is nicely depicted in this film. My teacher also wanted to show us sth else than a depressing movie about outsourcing, because they could have presented it much more sad. We all loved this movie, it was hilarious, full of clichés which were nicely overdone to increase the humour. Very recommendable!

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
Well, I'm not sure... My teacher asked a group of students to present it to us.
The movie is depressing and on this day, it was a little too much "oh how cruel the world is" for me... meh :(

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
It was in our ethics course, shown to us because it deals with morality in extreme cases and mobbing.
We were shocked at some occassions and we had a stupid task to do while watching it but I think all in all it was quite interesting and informative.

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
Good question, isn't it? :D

Actually this movie wasn't meant to teach us something (suprise!), it was with our Cheministry teacher some periods before some holidays, the Chemnistry rooms were all occupied because he was standing-in for any other teacher. We didn't know what to do and I had the DVD in my bag because I borrowed it from my ex-boyfriend, so we decided to watch it :D

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
We watched Super Size Me in Biology to see how the diet influences the body I think.
Like always in school, we didnt have enough time to watch it to the end, but I think only to see half of the movie is worth nothing, we didn't even see the outcome of his experiment ;)

La Boum (1980)

Occassion/What should we learn from it:
Here it was not about the movie, it was just about watching it in french.
We didn't understand much but many of us knew the film already :)

I can't believe you got to watch these movies at school! If I got to see these at my school, maybe I wouldn't fall asleep in class so often.

Most of these would be cool to watch at school. Nice list!

A couple movies I saw several times through school:

The Crucible (both b&w and the Daniel Day Lewis version)
Iron Jawed Angels

I only saw about half the ones on this list, but it's enough to mean they showed a lot of the same movies all over the place. :P
