I kind of see the point as a LOT of twist movies almost rely totally on the twist whereas some manage to offer a good film other than the twist

I never understood why Mulholland Drive is so revered and have NEVER heard a critic or anyone else logically justify why they think its a good film - oh its well shot and made, BUT the story is a mess, the characters are non-existant and the twist is kind og ho-hum. I think its just people trying to feel "clever" and be in some clique

I agree that when viewed overall, Mulholland Drive can be viewed as kind of lame. You can be left with a feeling of "wtf did I just watch?"...which, if that's what you're asking, the obvious conclusion is that it wasn't a very good film.

But for me, the experience of it was what made it good. I enjoyed it while I was watching it. The scenes were interesting and made you keep wondering where the story was going and what was to happen next.

That's kind of how I tend to judge films...was it a pleasurable experience viewing it.
