The Master (2012)
Lancaster Dodd: If you figure a way to live without serving a master, any master, then let the rest of us know, will you? For you'd be the first person in the history of the world.

Lancaster Dodd: If you leave me now, in the next life you will be my sworn enemy. And I will show you no mercy.

I think this is the 4th Paul Thomas Anderson movie I've seen now. I like all of his movies and this one is no exception. Joaquin phoenix is always great and delivers a stellar performance alongside Phillip Seymour Hoffman. What does this movie mean? It's hard to say, but something about the way people, especially emotionally vulnerable people, especially masses of emotionally vulnerable people, can be easily influenced by others, for better or worse. My favorite seen is when he loses his job as a mall photographer by attacking the clientele. This is probably my second favorite PTA movie so far. I like it better than There Will Be Blood for some reason. Although that one is also great.

In Bruges (2008)
Ray: [beating a tourist that he believes to be American] That's for John Lennon, you Yankee fuckin' cunt!

This movie is really really really good. Highly recommend. I enjoyed the whole thing thoroughly. The ending is really good too.

Get Out (2017)
Chris Washington: How did you find me?

Rod Williams: [looks at him] I'm the T.S-motherfucking-A. We handle shit. That's what we do. Consider your situations, fuckin' handled.

Jordan Peele's directorial debut is surprisingly good. The trailers made it look cheesy but it is hard to explain what this movie is without giving it away entirely. It does get away with being a little goofy in addition to the horror element. I thought it was pretty good. Props to the lead actor, i dont know his name but i saw him in black mirror and he was really good in the movie too. Actually now that i think about it. He pretty much carried this movie. I really hated the performances from the girlfriend's mom and dad.

Private Joker: Are those... live rounds?
Private Gomer Pyle: Seven-six-two millimeter. Full metal jacket.

The best part of this movie is the beginning. Very iconic Kubrick stuff going on. Private Joker is also unlikable to me for some reason throughout the rest of the movie. Kinda feel like if the movie ended after the guy kills himself i would have liked it more. but i have a short attention span and enjoy movies that aren't very long.

Lindsey: What happened to your nose?
Slevin Kelevra: I was using it to break some guy's fist.

I thought this movie was really good. I enjoy Josh Hartnett as a leading man and thought his performance was really good. Overall this movie will take you on a wild ride and the ending is really good. Is it as good as a Quentin Tarantino film? Not quite but almost. Also the rest of the cast is stellar, Bruce Willis, Ben Kingley, Morgan Freeman, Lucy Liu. Sidenote: what the fuck happened to Josh hartnett and Lucy Lui, I haven't seen them in anything in forever.

Steve Zissou: Don't point that gun at him, he's an unpaid intern.

Steve Zissou: Son of a bitch, I'm sick of these dolphins.

Steve Zissou: I'm going to find it and I'm going to destroy it. I don't know how yet. Possibly with dynamite.

Not sure what to make of Wes Anderson's movies. Very quirky and odd, but with a lot of cool visuals, locations, and camera techniques. I like anything with bill murray in it so i liked this movie and thought alot of the dialogue was pretty funny. Although i did find it odd that one of the main characters died so randomly for seemingly nothing. Also, he never did get revenge on that shark. what gives?? There are really great one liners in this movie.

Akira (1988)
Tetsuo: Let's run away somewhere.
Kaori: Where would we go?
Tetsuo: Anywhere. Just... the farther the better.

Watched this last night. Hyper stylized and ultra violent, this movie is great for any anime fans. The cover alone is iconic i feel like I've seem the cover over a thousand times. The characters are cool and the environment of Neo Tokyo is very engaging. Plus Kenada's bike is super sick. IMO the best part of the movie is the opening biker gang fight. The end gets a little confusing and conceptual. Sorta reminds me of 2001: A Space Odyssey. Also, Does any feel bad for Kaori? She got it rough in this movie.

''Whoever Saves One Life, Save The World Entire.'' - Oskar Schindler

One of the most powerful movies I've ever seen. Considered Spielberg's crowning jewel in terms of the movies he has directed. Great performance by Liam Neeson. Very artsy for a Spielberg movie. I like how the girls red jacket is the only color seen in the whole movie. Sort of signals the tipping point for Oskar. 10/10 Although it is a long movie.

Spirited Away (2001)
"Once you do something, you never forget. Even if you can't remember." -Zeniba (Spirited Away)

A movie I wished i watched as a kid. The environment is so surreal, the character design is incredible. Specifically the black monster who can create gold. Such a unique design. Also, you really feel the terror that the main character feels at losing her parents. Especially when she can no longer pick them out in the group of pigs. Gonna have to watch this one again someday.

"No one understands the lonely perfection of my dreams." - David (Alien Covenant)

This movie is much better than Prometheus, and i enjoyed it, but there was definitely untapped potential. I thought the characters were pretty genuine and interesting. Unfortunately they are all killed almost instantly lol. Also the alien in the shower scene should've been like the highlight of the movie but there was no buildup or anything. People just died so fast it was honestly more of an action movie than anything. Still, Micheal Fassbender really saves this movie with his depiction of a creator trying to usher in a new form of life. Also i thought the ending was really good and terrifying. Also, this whole movie i was rooting for the aliens so maybe thats not a good sign lol idk.

Her (2013)
“Sometimes I think I have felt everything I’m ever gonna feel. And from here on out, I’m not gonna feel anything new. Just lesser versions of what I’ve already felt.” – Theodore (Her)

One of my favorite movies. The cinematography here is breathtaking and Joaquin Phoenix gives a powerful performance as a lonely writer trying to get over his ex-wife. The idea of this movie is great itself, a guy falling in love with an operating system. The end is a bit of a cop out and a lot of the movie i guess is pretty cheesy but i still really liked it.

Boogie Nights (1997)
"When I close my eyes, I see this thing, a sign, I see this name in bright blue neon lights with a purple outline. And this name is so bright and so sharp that the sign - it just blows up because the name is so powerful... It says, Dirk Diggler." - Eddie Adams (Boogie Nights)

Paul Thomas Anderson's first film featuring newcomer Mark Wahlberg. I thought this movie was great, the character progression for Dirk Diggler is done really well. From the shy dishwasher who lives with his parents to the coke snorting porn star with an ego through the roof. All of the characters are very interesting, even sub-characters like Phillip Seymour Hoffman. There are some really artsy shots, like the William H Macy scene. Also the style of this movie is very cool, the scene where they are in the pool at Jack's house looks exactly like what a robust party in the 70's should be. Highly recommend this movie. Can't wait to watch PTA's other films.

Truly enlightening movie. Really shows how fucked up the middle class is compared to how it used to be. Post WW2 America was a thriving economy with a booming middle class. Not to mention higher education was cheap and widespread, producing a highly skilled workforce. Some stunning facts i learned from the movie: 400 people in America have more money than the rest of all americans (some 150 million) combined. Also, Mitt Romney's income tax was 13% a few years ago. 13%?? Are you fucking kidding me?

Ex Machina (2014)
"I'm gonna tear up the fucking dance floor, dude. Check it out." - Nathan (Ex-Machina)

Just watched this. The writer of 28 days later (great movie) in his directorial debut. This movie is idealistic, bold, and chilling. I thought it was great. Some parts are really creepy as this movie really does a great job connecting you with the main character and the unfamiliar place he is in. Good character development. Slick looking robots. Awesome disco dance scene. Cool ending.

The most ridiculous movie i have ever seen. What the hell does it mean? Who knows. Its confusing as fuck. Very artsy. But idk i sorta like it. The scope of it is huge and the script is very imaginative. Charlie Kaufman's debut as a director. I have a feeling even he didn't know the story. was probably on drugs or something when he filmed.

a train wreck but i think sam raimi purposely made it stupid because of the studios involvement with the script. Its a shame because Spiderman 2 was one of the best superhero movies ever made. He would never actually direct something this bad. Right??

This movie rules. Its hilarious and action packed and solidifies Chris Pratt as an A-list actor. (what?? yeah i know how the fuck did that happen.) Marvel proves it knows what its doing bringing comics to the big screen. Arguably better than The Avengers. Cool soundtrack too.
