WHY PEOPLE HATE IT: Unoriginal, nonsensical plot (unless you've watched the extended version).

WHY I DON'T MIND: The director admitted the use of themes from other movies. Visionary films like Star Wars, The Lion King, most of Pixar's work and Inception are not even original, and I still love them. Although there are films that don't care, like Equilibrium, 2012 and Alice in Wonderland.

WHY PEOPLE HATE IT: Typical Paul-like aliens, cheese, CGI animals, no realism.

WHY I DON'T MIND: No Indiana Jones film was realistic or serious. Plus, I don't really care about the CGI animals, because it's often hard to get a real one. It's all what Indiana Jones was meant to be - camp!

WHY PEOPLE HATE IT: There was little action and a lame story.

WHY I DON'T MIND: Drama's better than too much action. I've seen a much more cliched story in TRON 2.

WHY PEOPLE HATE IT: They think it's just another TV episode stretched out to a feature length.

WHY I DON'T MIND: Most of the episodes act out like your regular sitcom, while the movie pushes it further.

WHY PEOPLE HATE IT: It ain't like Die Hard anymore.

WHY I DON'T MIND: It stays true to the series' formula of reusing scripts to movies that were never meant to be Die Hard (the latest one ignores that).

There are some movies that even though their ratings from critics and other people are fine, there seems to be more haters of these movies in my eyes than fans. But don't concentrate on the Listal ratings, concentrate on the IMDB ratings. And maybe even look up their Rotten Tomatoes scores.

Have you seen Drag Me to Hell? I friggin' love that movie, but it baffles me that the ratings at IMDb and here are much lower than they were at Rotten Tomatoes, which is at 92%.

Another film that comes to mind that seems worse than the score is Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which is seriously underrated. I thought the Willy Wonka version is a bit overrated, despite Gene Wilder's performance and some good music numbers.

While I'd defend Avatar's technical brilliance, the plot isn't just unoriginal, its condescending. Sci-fi is famous for having a subtler metaphorical approach, giving the viewer a chance to contemplate the meaning, instead of bashing home the message like Battleship Potemkin. "Greedy human kill good tree!" Gee, what is James Cameron trying to say? I didn't hate it for that, but I can see why many people would.
