@dan, the year is not finished yet and I don't think X-men will hold this spot. Furthmore, it is very low in the IMDB list (n. 224) so I'm pretty sure in a few months, it will be gone.
I think the biggest surprise is 1939 with Mr Smith Goes to Washington rated higher than Gone With The Wind and The Wizard Of Oz -
There were so many great movies released in 1939 -
Same with Blade Runner - I haven't seen it yet,
or if I did, I don't remember seeing it -
but is it really better than E.T., Poltergeist, Gandhi, Tootsie, The King Of Comedy and all the other great movies released in 1982?
Sorry there's no way in hell X-Men 1st Class id the best movie of 2011. 2011 isnt even half over yet. Plus with Captain America, Transformers 3, Cars 2, and Harry Potter 7 part 2 coming out with the next month or so there's no way X-men 1st class will keep that spot.
@johanlefourbe I believe Captain America or Harry Potter has a shot. I mean X-Men: 1st Class not really as good as people think. It dropped over 50% in one week
@jay-jay, even Iron Man was not good enough to be on this list so you really think that Captain America will be that good? I doubt it. The same thing for Harry Potter, none of the previous installments got a spot on this list so I really doubt the last installment will be much better. Don't forget, this list is about the ratings, not about the box-office.
And with X-men 1st class, it is a known phenomenon with new movies. When they come out, loads of people vote for them but after a while, the hype goes off and they just disappear...
great list, i like X men but i agree with @johanlefourbe, and i love marvel comics, im a fan marvel but i dont think Captain america or Harry potter can be the best movie of the year. Maybe "The girl with the dragon tatto", "The tree of life" or "Jane eyre", these are the movies that i think can earn that place so far, but its a long year
@Drako, indeed, "The girl with the dragon tatto" and "The tree of life" may be potential winners. The rating for "Jane Eyre" is way to low to take the spot.
It is rather interesting. A few months ago, when I added 'X-men:1st class', I add tons of reactions. Now, it has been a month since I have added 'Harry Potter' and no reaction whatsoever. Strange....
Harry Potter, c'est ennuyeux à force.
J'espère qu'un autre film va prendre sa place, on ne peut sérieusement pas dire que c'est le meilleur film de 2011.
Très belle liste sinon. :)
Well, as of now Drive holds an 8.7 rating with a little over 11,000 voters. Hopefully it holds strong, as it is in fact the best wide-release film of this so far dismal year.
@Drako Z, thanks for the heads up! I kind of forgot about this one. With 'The Dark Knight Rises', 'The Hobbit', 'Promotheus', ' Django Unchained' still coming up, It will be quite interesting to see which one will get the top spot finally.
@johanlefourbe, yes, it will be interesting, because i dont even know wich one is my favorite candidate this year, its probably Prometheus or the DKR, but the hobbit and Django too. I know its very far from being on the top but Moonrise Kingdom, Cosmopolis and even Lawless are still in my candidates list
Can you believe that in 2011, the year when 'A Separation', 'Drive', 'The Artist', 'The Tree of life' were released, 'Intouchables' ended up being the best movie of the year?!? is it really that good ? I haven't even seen it in ANY top 10 for that year...
I mean, if you check the comments above there was some discussion about which movie should end up on top but I'm pretty sure nobody expected this flick to get the top spot.
Johanlefourbe, I had a very pleasant time in Paris during summer vacation and I think she is the most beautiful city in the world! I will be back to visit Paris again, definitely!
Not LOTR...

- 'Django Unchained' is n.41 and 'The Dark Knight Rises' is n. 45
- For 'Batman Begins', you were right. The list is now updated.
