Movie Diary 2011
Hostel part II was a must see after seeing the first one. The plot and idea was pretty much the same but this time our victims were women. I don't know why, but I was kind of expecting this one to be even more gory than the first one, but I was wrong. At least in my mind, Hostel II had a bit lamer feel to it. It was obviously pretty predictable, and the movie just repeated the idea of the first movie. This time our main character just happened to be insanely rich, so she had the chance to use that as her advantage. But it was nice to know some details about the whole bloodhound organization and what happened to Paxton. The creepiest, and my favorite scene was when some rich woman had a nice blood bath by slashing a girl hanging above her. It was pretty damn sick.

Even though this isn't actually a movie, I wanted to include it here. It was a five episode series by BBC. And it was quite nice. I liked the actors and the plot was pretty basic. Nothing too special but interesting enough. Although I was disappointed that they did so many easy choices with the plot. I think Ben Whishaw has potential, and I feel like he's going to get some attention soon, when people see him in the next Bond movie.

I wasn't expecting much when I decided to watch Eli Roth's Hostel. I've been wanting to watch it for a while and now I got the chance. First of all, the first half of the movie seems like a pretty basic horror movie story. But after the horrible stuff begin, there's some insane slasher stuff there. But during all that, I almost felt like the director was trying to say something and make a statement. But unfortunately the slightest feeling of that, slips away when all you see is a sick gore feast. Over all, I gave the movie 3 stars because in the end, the movie had something just a bit greater in it than in all the other basic slasher films. The message just got lost in all the slaughtering.

When I first heard about this movie back in 2008, I was really interested to see what it would be like. I've always liked David Lynch but Jennifer Lynch's first movie was pretty awful. And I guess it wasn't interesting enough since I totally forgot about the movie. But now, 3 years later, I accidentally came across this movie again. I couldn't sleep and this was on, so I checked it out. The beginning was really dull. It was hard to keep my interest up. And the movie just revealed too much clues already on the first half of the movie. It wasn't anything I had hoped for. BUT I have to say that there was few good things about this flick. First of all the sadistic cops were pretty cool. That gave the movie some fun moments. But what I really liked about the movie was the chemistry between the two agents/serial killers Sam and Elizabeth. Especially Bill Pullman's portrayal of Sam was really interesting, and he was a very David Lynch like character. But those were the only good things about the movie. The flick was tolerable, but nothing special. It was really trying to be something other than what it was, something clever or artistic, but in the end it was just another tasteless slasher film.

Excellent, tragic and so powerful in all the possible ways. Truly a sad (not excessively sad or clichéd) story. Some of the scenes were horrifying, even my dad was almost crying... which is very rare. This is a masterpiece, and even though it was not the usual Lynch-like movie, it still had his unique and dark take on the story.

This is one of those movies that seem like crap, but then there's surprisingly many people who liked the movie a lot. So you decide to watch it and you feel confused. I'm still not sure was it bad or good. I like the idea, since it might actually happen... But then something just didn't quite do it for me. Maybe someday I'll give this another try.

Wow, I was expecting something REALLY great. Seemed like everybody adored Vanilla Sky so in my head the expectations for this movie were high. Too high. But I kinda liked the story. I thought I couldn't get through the film with two of my least favorite actresses and the main man being someone I've never really liked that much. But I have to say that all in all, the movie was just fine for me. Just fine.

The acting is just amazing. The plot was umm, disappointing I guess. Not really interesting and the whole movie was really about the crazy couple. They should've built a bit more interesting plot to back up the acting. But anyways, Burton and Taylor were both a perfect fit for their roles.

Ahh. What could I say. The movie just sucks. I was expecting it to be more entertaining at least. But no, I almost fell asleep during the film. Val Kilmer as Batman: boring! I only liked Jim Carrey's Riddler. Sure Chris O'Donnell looks hot and he is nice eye candy, but the whole Robin character is just unimportant. The movie was just a big mess.

I'm confused. I'm very, very, very confused. I really expected something so much better. It had its potential but all in all the whole movie was just so bizarre in a very lame way. What's with the ending?! What is this shit... But at least it was entertaining, and Ben Whisaw was quite good. And at times the plot was actually interesting. But it all fell apart and the movie left me feeling very confused in a very bad way.

Beautiful and a tragic story with great actors. How could you go wrong? The only thing I hate about these kinds of films is that it makes you hopeful that you find that one huge love of your life and love him/her no matter what. I thinks for the most of us, that never happens but some get that though.

Sort of funny but boring at times. I don't know why would anyone do this kind of a documentary about their relationships and anyway the whole idea got drifted away to some other personal stuff this guy had going on. It's weird how you find the main guy a bit disgusting at times but then you feel sorry for him. He's really quite the character.

How have I missed this list for so long? Glad you liked Heat and The Fall. I've been kicking around the idea of watching 8MM for a while now, but haven't worked up the will. Looks like I'm not missing much... I'll have to give the rest of this list a closer look.

Just wondering if you've read Perfume? I keep putting off watching the movie because I loved the book.

Been a while since I dropped by here last... I really need to watch Boondock Saints II one of these days. Glad to see you enjoyed Open Range, which is indeed underrated. And I'll continue to ignore the existence of Hostel 2. ;)
