These are the Seven Sins which we know, and which the Catholic Church recognized and are to be confessed if a man/woman seek forgiveness. Check out Tartan's coverage of the original Seven Sins: Here

But in 2008 a new [modernized] seven sins were announced by the Vatican which are of the greatest danger to human civilization in our times, these sins are:

:: Environmental pollution
:: Genetic Manipulation
:: Accumulating excessive wealth
:: Inflicting Poverty
:: Drug trafficking and Consumption
:: Morally debatable experiments
:: Violation of fundamental rights of human nature

The new mortal sins were listed by Archbishop Gianfranco Girotti at the end of a week-long training seminar in Rome for priests, aimed at encouraging a revival of the practice of confession.

These lists contain movies that focus heavily on these sins, showing us that these vices are not only prevalent, but a key focus of our popular culture! Maybe the Vatican is onto something.

Mind and body altering narcotics are condemned by the church for a plethora of reasons. Firstly, because they alter our mental state and draw our mind away from God, but mostly because of the waves of excessive vice which follow the drug trade.

Spun is one of the ultimate drug-addiction movies. And surprised that 'Requiem for a Dream' didnt make the cut. Are you limiting it to Top 10 only?

I have never seen Requiem for a dream, so didn't know it belonged here. I'll add it. Thanks for the heads up.

I think you missed it in my first comment:

Heavy use of speed throughout film, as well as manufacturing process involved (i.e. buying of base elements needed to cook up batch of meth)
