Misunderstood films
A powerful statement on modern existence under capitalism. This has the balls to say what a bunch of other weak ass films wanted to say

And now a powerful statement on existence under communism. It runs for seven hours, and it's beautiful and depressing for each second. Naturally, for such a dense, powerful work, you have all the idiots going "it's boring and too long"; pay no mind, this is pure cinema

My favorite film of all time. Once again, you have idiots shouting cries of "boring, pretentious, pseudo intellecual" blah blah blah. Read all that garbage as "I don't understand this because there's no explosions"

Many fans of the show were bothered by the film's incredibly surreal nature. Do they not not realize this is what Anno wanted to do all along?
m08221196's rating:
Obviously one of the greatest films ever made, but I can't believe how many people seem to think Travis Bickle is "cool". I mean, god, talk about missing the fucking point
m08221196's rating:
So many seem to be under the impression this an anarchist film about anti consumerism, when that's only a small part. I read "Fight Club" as "we're all trapped in this ugly world with no purpose", brazenly nihilistic. Tyler Durden and the fight club are just as stupid, meaningless, and unrewarding as a corporate desk job and Ikea furniture
m08221196's rating:
A 4 hour film of childlike wonderment. It's incredibly surreal and improvised, not really accessible, but if you can handle it, it's life affirming
m08221196's rating:
A hilarious satirization of suburban existence. I don't begrudge anyone who'd call this pointless, but as a black comedy/act of provocation, it's the shit
m08221196's rating:
Once again, many of the film's fans idolize Alex, when the whole point is to condemn that sort of thing. I personally find the thematic ignorant, but this has got to be one of the most common cases of "missing the fucking point", so I couldn't not include it
m08221196's rating:
OH MY GOD IT'S OBVIOUSLY A FUCKING COMEDY
Do people actually think this put together to be a serious drama? m08221196's rating:
Tom Green has written his own comic ideals, and has used "Freddy Got Fingered" as a vehicle to express them all. I can't say I neccesarily agree with his ideals, but I'd much rather see this deconstruction accepted conventions than, um, accepted conventions
m08221196's rating:
As avant garde as Godard ever got. It really doesn't have a plot, just a series of short stories that intersect very loosely. Honestly, most people will hate it, and I can totally understand why, but it struck a chord with me
