Miscellaneous Godzilla
Anyone who's a fan of kaiju or cartoons should see this film. Created entirely by Marv Newland - though its sequels, Son of Bambi Meets Godzilla and Bambi's Revenge, had no involvement from his end of the table - this short was originally intended to be live action. I don't know about you, but I couldn't imagine this working outside of the cartoon animated format!

As a monster movie, it wasn't half-bad, and the special effects were pretty advanced for the time. But the script needed definite improving in the minds of the critics. Hardcore Godzilla fans panned it for the monster's small size, weak nature, and lack of an atomic ray. The movie was only marginally profitable. However, Godzilla: The Series, a 1998 TV series which acted as a continuation of the story, has been received much more favorably by the Godzilla fanbase.
Very clearly the product of Godzilla (1998)'s success (albeit limited), this movie - very clearly done in the early days of CGI - pitted Bambi against an American Godzilla. Not nearly so heartless, this time.

The first full-length movie to feature Godzilla since the Godzilla series' hiatus following 2004's Final Wars, this movie is a sequel to Japan's wildly successful Always - Sunset on Third Street. A drama about life in 1950s Tokyo, this sequel doesn't seem a proper place for giant monsters. However, the film opens with a dream where Godzilla is terrorizing Third Street. I'll say, it's pretty epic and well-done. Did I mention it's Godzilla's CGI debut? The cards fell evenly into place for the Always staff to make due use of another of Toho's beloved licenses, Godzilla, in true crossover fashion. Let us only hope that Toho learns from this extremely competent Godzilla outing when they decide to make a real comeback.
