Marvel Comics movies: Best to Worst
As Marvel's films go, this is as close to perfect as they get. I've watched it several times & have yet to find a single thing about this movie I don't like or enjoy. So what keeps it from being a perfect 10? See the above list. the giraffe's rating:
Unlike its predecessors, this X-film actually has character development, mostly for Xavier and Erik. The film is at its best so long as they're on screen. Ah, just go read the review above as it perfectly captures my thoughts even though I didn't write it. the giraffe's rating:
Shane Black restores the humanity to the series & RDJ seems to be enjoying himself again. It's far from perfect & could be better, but overall I enjoyed it well enough that I'd watch it again & wouldn't mind another sequel. the giraffe's rating:
Blade is a lot of fun, and I dig the story. The acting isn't always so good though. the giraffe's rating:

The first 3 films all shake out about the same for me, but this one edges the other 2 out because I like the overall story best out of the 3. the giraffe's rating:
![]() Apparently lots of people hate this one, and will therefore be confused to see it rank above the first one. Well let me say this then...all I wanted out of this movie was to see a fastball special, and I got that...TWICE. So it exceeded my expectations. I've only seen it once though, so a re-watch may drop it down the list. the giraffe's rating:
The only thing I'd add to the above review is that I personally feel that this film relies far too heavily on making the characters look as "cool" as possible, rather than giving us proper reasons to care about them. Which is why it gets a 7 instead of an 8 from me. the giraffe's rating:
![]() I thought Spider-Man was decent & entertaining enough, but it just fails to inspire my love somehow. Could be that I've never cared much for Kirsten Dunst & Tobey Maguire, though I think the latter does an OK job of playing Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Willem Dafoe is excellent as usual though, and James Franco is good...but by far my favorite part of the entire film is Bruce Campbell's cameo. the giraffe's rating:
![]() Iron Man 2 fails to deliver on the promise of the original largely due to an overabundance of ideas and not enough time to follow them all successfully. The cast is mostly excellent (I personally missed Terence Howard though Don Cheadle played Rhodes adequately), the action sequences are well-done for the most part, but it's missing the heart that the original had. Plus Downey just looks like he doesn't want to be in the film most of the time. the giraffe's rating:
![]() To be fair, it's been many years since I last watched this film. So it's possible I'm being too kind to it with my rating. But the last time I watched it I enjoyed it in all its cheesiness, in a so-bad-it's-good kinda way. And yes, this was originally a Marvel Comics character. the giraffe's rating:
![]() As someone who used to read comics, I can honestly say that this film could have been brilliant. The Weapon X series that provided Wolvie's backstory is one of my favorite reads, but here it's hacked to pieces & mixed up with far too much stupidity to comment on. Worst sin of the entire film is what they did with the Deadpool character though. Gah. the giraffe's rating:
Unseens

Thor on the other hand, i found to be a disappointment. Solid cast yes, but the story was so predicatable, but I appload Chris Hemsworth performance.
Wonderful list.
or Hulk. It's pretty underrated, in terms of atmosphere and leading role it's better than the Sequel (Edward Norton was miscast as Dr. Banner imho)
You miss Hulk, and all the others are very bad, i hate Captain America because they dont show the Stve Rogers of the comic, they only show... Chris Evans, but everyone else seems to like it
Man-Thing was originally a TV movie in the U.S. & only released theatrically overseas, hence its omission.
I thought in Iron Man 2 it looked a bit more original than in Spider Man 3. I would also like you to elaborate on why the Avengers is so far down.
Heh, I like Daredevil. But maybe that has something to do with its soundtrack being the first one I ever owned, leading me to me dive into alternative rock soundtracks. A number of the songs from the album are used pretty well in the final cut.
I literally couldn't finish Man-Thing. Avoid it unless you want to say you've seen them all.
It's hard to beat Downey Jr.
