Love the Zelda reference.BUT,that was not Excalibur in that picture of King Arthur,it was just a regular sword he pulled out of a stone.The Lady of the Lake gave him Excalibur along with it's magical scabbard.

How about The Book of Swords, by Fred Saberhagen? I would consider that essential in such a list.

Good list! What about Gandalf's sword Glamdring in Lord of the Rings? or Túrin Turambar's sword Anglachel in The Silmarillion?
