Madonna's Big Screen FILM FAILS and FLOPS
![]() Madonna has gone on record saying her heroes , The Duke and Duchess of Windsor, were not Nazi sympathizers and to label them as such is "all lies". ![]() E./W. spelled backwards. The turkey of Venice and Toronto and a massive flop in the UK. Nazi's whitewashed, numerous errors and King George The Third(sic) announced as "dead in 1936". ANY true film expert knows that a bad script cannot be saved by even the smartest cinematography and actors and that Madonna is a failure at film. "They've said that she put a spell on Edward. They've said that she was a hermaphrodite and that he was gay. They've said they were Nazi sympathisers. It's just the usual lynch-mob mentality that descends upon somebody who has something that lots of other people don't have." Nominated for six Golden Raspberries, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor (Willem Dafoe), Worst Director, Worst Supporting Actress (Anne Archer) and Worst Screenplay, with Madonna winning Worst Actress. It also appeared on the 2005 list of Roger Ebert's most hated films.
The movie was panned by critics and failed at the box office. It was nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, "winning" one of them, Worst Actress for Madonna.
The film was a critical and commercial flop.
Madonna won a Razzie Award for Worst Actress.Critic Roger Ebert gave the movie one star, stating: "The Next Best Thing is a garage sale of gay issues, harnessed to a plot as exhausted as a junkman's horse." Who's That Girl ended up being a critical and commercial failure.
"Madonna delivers the worst performance in recent memory as the heroine of an attempt at screwball comedy. Watching her try to look like Marilyn Monroe and sound like Betty Boop, though, is a sure sign that this film was a disaster in the making. At the same time, it seems inconceivable that anyone would sit down and plan something so dreadful." -Jamie Waylett from The Advocate In 1985, A Certain Sacrifice was released on video to capitalize on Madonna's fame. Madonna tried to buy the rights from director Stephen Jon Lewicki for $5,000 unsuccessfully. Madonna, then tried to ban the film from being seen. Here is an idea: when you have acted in a shit film and are now rich and famous, you should ideally make an offer the producer can't refuse instead of a joke amount of money like 5K!
Flop film, bad Madonna acting. Masculine madonna in ugly period costumes.
The film opened in US theaters on November 19, 1993 and was trashed by critics.
"The audience didn't really like the film. Madonna killed it. The first impression people get on a movie is the one that never gets out of their mind. So after Madonna got so trashed for doing Body of Evidence, she thought she was going to beat the critics to the punch and badmouth the film." Director Abel Ferrara SuperAmanda's rating:
Shot prior to her radical plastic surgery, Madonna looked like a 60 year old cougar on the make.
From Den Of Geek's 10 worst Bond moments: "It was bad enough that the ubiquitous, indestructible “Queen of Pop” had to breathe out the bland, over-produced theme tune, but to have her make an all-too-obvious cameo added insult to injury. Going further than Sheena Easton’s unwarranted appearance in the title sequence of For Your Eyes Only, Madge’s minor role as fencing mentor/innuendo dispenser, Verity, should have been slashed in the editing room, if only to avoid hearing her comment of Bond’s blade prowess: “I see you handle your weapon well.” SuperAmanda's rating:
Madonna curses even ensemble films with good performances in them to fail. Madonna won the 1995 Razzie award for Worst Supporting Actress for her part in "The Missing Ingredient".
SuperAmanda's rating:
"Madonna seemed more like a 90's woman in a 40s film."
-Roger Ebert SuperAmanda's rating:
"Madonna's mistake in "Dick Tracy," is that she frankly reaches back to Marilyn Monroe and tries make Breathless into a Monroe clone, right down to the lighting and costuming in some numbers, which seems inspired by Monroe in "Some Like It Hot." It doesn't work. She's not Monroe.."
-Roger Ebert SuperAmanda's rating:
Semi-watchable only because she speaks ZERO dialogue but despite being forced into voice lessons, her voice is SO weak compared to all others who have attempted the role. Despite the fact she did do an ok job, the film will be remade at some point with better singers.
