Lovecraft Films
Films I've Already SeenA silent, black & white film named after the famous story on which it is based. It's the first commercial film created by the H.P. Lovecraft Historical Society.
Great film. Love the acting, the lighting, the vibes, and, of course, the story. Chaos Eternum's rating:
This one is actually based on the story "The Shadow Over Innsmouth". It's got a pretty great story, and some pretty freaky images in it! A great adaptation of the story, in my opinion.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
While not actually based on a Lovecraft story, it does contain one of Lovecraft's most famous and powerful artifacts -- the Necronomicon!
Chaos Eternum's rating:
As in the last one, the dead are brought back from the grave with the power of the Necronomicon.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
The Necronomicon opens a rift in time that sends Ash back to Medieval ages, and it once again raises the dead.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
Based on the story "Herbert West–Reanimator."
A young man discovers the means to preserve life after death. Hilarity and hijinx ensue. Chaos Eternum's rating:
This one is also based on "The Shadow Over Innsmouth" but is a vastly different adaptation than "Cthulhu" listed above. This one is a bit darker, and more sinister. Not as good as the one above, but still not bad.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
This was excellent. I seriously enjoy the show that the HP Lovecraft Historical Society puts on. This is what Lovecraft films are supposed to be.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
From what I can tell, this one isn't specifically based on any story in particular, but references several different Lovecraftian themes, madness especially. It was actually really good.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
Films I've Yet to SeeIt was cheesy and goofy... but not terrible. It's about the supposed descendant of Lovecraft.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
I've heard bad reviews, and I'm not even real sure on what this one's about. I'll have to read more into it.
This film is based on "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward". I'm a sucker for older horror films, and this one even has Vincent Price in it!
I'm not too familiar with this one, but I know it's based upon "The Colour Out of Space".
Chaos Eternum's rating:
Based on the short story of the same name. I'll probably be watching this one soon.
Chaos Eternum's rating:
Based on the short story of the same name. The lead character is Randolph Carter, a prominent figure in Lovecraft's stories.
