A lengthy running time is enough to turn viewers off watching a movie. If they see a movie is three or four hours in length, chances are they'll pass it up in favor of something tighter and easier to consume.
Yet, there are long movies out there which do not feel so long. I become enraptured in the story, the characters and the filmmaking that the runtime doesn't faze me in the slightest.
"Avatar - Runtime: 178 min (extended cut)"
God, I almost slept on the normal cut so I wonder how bad is the extended one.
Same goes to Lord Of the Rings (all of them) and King Kong.
Actually I just agree with Titanic. I haven't watched the rest of them.
Ditto on Meet Joe Black. It's a movie I find myself watching a lot. The soundtrack is particularly beautiful, and I have it on iTunes. It's played quite constantly.
Kinda surprised not see Magnolia here actually. Of all the major release looong movies that came out that year (including, but not limited to, I'm sure: The Green Mile, The Hurricane, The Insider) it's the only one I've seen more than once. Probably seen it 7 or 8 times in it's entirety, in fact. Casino is the other one not present that comes immediately to my mind.
Agree with the LOTR movies and King Kong, somehow haven't seen Meet Joe Black yet.

You can add christopher nolan's "The Dark Knight" to this list....
