1. No Man's Land (2001)
Day 1 - Best Film discovery from another listal memeber or list

I watched this film because it had been listed on AFIoscar's Academy award list.
Best Foreign Language Film

And because it had come up while helping PK with the Black Comedy list. The two factors together made this film a "must see" in my book and I was not disappointed. A very dark comedy and the end still gives me chills.

Day 2 - Obscure film discovery. I would have never watched this film unless..

Trying to round out my own world cinema movie watching can be difficult. I had seen a few Dutch films so when I spotted this on Jammar's list and read some comments about the film. I was sold.

Day 3 - Movie Review that swayed you to watch a film...

Considering the number of people that I have told to watch this film you would be surprised that I was not the primary source of the discovery. Nope... all thanks to SJMJ91's review and his general good taste in films.

Underrated treasure of inspiration and tragedy

4. Mr. Nobody (2009)
Day 4 - Most Disapoiting Movie watched after hearing about it on Listal

I love ♥ CHANi's quirky list and to find a film that is both quirky and underrated I thought for sure my dreams had come true. However, I could barely make it through the movie.

Quirky!

Day 5 - Movie List that you still visit to find a movie

A list that has been around for ages that I still take picks from has been...

History of Horror by diabolical dr voodoo

I just tend to filter the list to display in reverse chronological order to help with my limited attention span. It is updated frequently.

6. After Hours (1985)
Day 6 - Favorite Film List

Think this might be cheating that its a film poster list, however... Raquel has posted some of my favorite film poster lists. They are sweet, strange and sometimes disturbing but they always reminds me of living in Mexico City and all the wonderful hand painted movie posters. That my own cultural experiences still slants my viewing experiences and that I should be kinder to others who see the world with different eyes.

Day 7 - I always vote for a film list if it has this...

Answer: A great film that I love and hardly anyone has watched
Granted there are hundreds of movie classics and gems that I still haven't watched. Still, there are some films that I'm always happy to see on a list and that someone else has enjoyed.

German Expressionism

8. Evolution (2001)
Day 8 - Type of film list I never vote for...

Answer: Any of the "Evolution of..." lists
I don't know I just find them redundant and I'll use Listal's data to see all the films that a person has been in... with the added bonus of being able to filter the list in various ways. So... meh... and come on
NO "Evolution of Tilda Swinton" list???
And two "The evolution of Ewan McGregor" lists!
Come on people! It is Tilda! See now I'm just sad :P

Day 9 - A List that deserves more attention

Yes, it true that during Hollywood's golden age of Noir other countries were still making movies.

Many films get tossed aside simply because the are not considered 'pure Noir' or even 'pure Neo-Noir". So, yes... from time to time completely ignore what the 'experts' say and just watch a great film.

Day 12 - A Listal Member who inspires your movie choices

There are a few on-line blogs that I follow but I confess there are a few people that always draw me back to Listal for a good movie pick. That said... without these two guys I would live in a movie cave.

Day 13 - A List that inspired you to create your own list

There are a few people who started making best of list for each year. johanlefourbe's lists managed to cover a lot of territory and brought a number of films to my attention that I would have normally overlooked.

Day 16 - If you had to pick only one of your film lists to showcase it would be...

Ack, tough choice as I just took a number of list out of public rotation. So, I would have to stick with the 2009 horror list. I would like the other years to look the same as this year. It is the best formatting and layout... and it is packed with goodies.

Day 8 - A type of film list I never vote for...
Day 9 - A List that deserves more attention
Day 10 - A Film you have avoided watching thanks to a review/list warning
Day 11 - Listal member whose reviews you can usually trust
Day 12 - A Listal Member who inspires your movie choices
Day 13 - A List that inspired you to create your own list

Crud... I put AgentLexi twice... I was trying to avoid listing a member more then once. Hum... may need to change one of the days :P

Great stuff! I love this idea- a fine tribute to the quality work of many of the members here and great insight into the listal/jaytoast dynamic. And thanks for the kind words!

Now I'm off to check out some of these lists!

First of all, sorry for "The evolution of..." lists... I kind of feel responsible for this rage... I like those lists but they are not really awe inspiring, that's for sure! Anyway, thanks for the mention! I was kind of jealous when you mentionned Xanadon't and the giraffe (both great listal members, by the way) but not me.... But then, I had my own entry later on (number 13! Is this a bad omen?).

Well, first don't feel sorry about the "Evolution of..." lists you weren't the first member to create one. I don't mind them... I just don't really vote for them.

I have watched more then a handful of films just because I found them on your top lists. So, you keep me pretty well stocked on film picks ;)

Nice choices & thanks for the love! Expect to see some from me on my list too.

How did I forget to vote for all your Year of Horror lists?
