This is a really nice list! I don't agree with a lot of the newer films, but I do think you did an excellent job with the older (pre-1980) films. Props to you!

I added Avatar in there because it perhaps isn't a breakthrough in stories but it certainly is a breakthrough in effects. Think we all must admit that.
Think The Matrix was like that too in 99 and well... Lord Of The Rings are special because despite they're fantasy novels and we all know they're not real, it just feels so real! Perfectly made!

I agree with C!pher, you should add for each movie a comment explaining why the concerned movie is a landmark.

Well, that requires a lot of time and I have to say, I haven't got much of it to spare at the moment. Plus, the ones I had already done notes on had just popped into my head as soon as I created this list.
