After watching the putrefied garbage that was the Sherlock Holmes movie, I have renewed my acquaintance with the best Sherlock Holmes that ever graced the screen - Jeremy Brett. I haven't watched these TV series and movies for many many years but fond memories always remained.

This excellent DVD collection has *all* these episodes in one convenient box: Sherlock Holmes: The Complete Granada Television Series. Highly recommended!

Your comment about Jeremy Brett is so true--he was the quintessential Sherlock Holmes. Multi-dimensional, animated, action-oriented, thoughtful, abrupt, charismatic. Brett understood the character and its importance. Sherlock Holmes is still the most popular detective in history--almost 130 years after the first story was written.

And the remastered Sherlock Holmes boxed set starring Jeremy Brett is a superb package, complete with intelligent notes on each story.
