You were too harsh with The Transporter and The Bone Collector, but interesting list.

Oh, man, fantastic idea for a list. The title perfectly describes what is truly important when it comes to assessing movies (and unfortunately, it's something a lot of people simply don't understand). I absolutely can't wait to see the other choices of comparisons that you'll add to this list later on. I can't normally think of suggestions for people's lists, but in this case, I immediately think of the incredibly syrupy and manipulative tearjerker that was My Sister's Keeper versus the devastatingly honest movie that was 50/50. Both movies about a cancer patient, but the first one just cared about physically forcing the tears out of your eyes, while the other one actually cared about creating genuine situations and three-dimensional characters.

Def. agree with the Hostel rating, what a sinker! I heard the plot for that when it first came out and thought it sounded promising. It's now one of my all time most hated movies.

Nice list man.
I'd like to suggest American History X VS. The Believer.
Both movies are carried by one individual struggling with himself, trying to discover his true identity while stuck in the neo-Nazistic society. American History is highly overrated movie, it's a pure mess. Besides Edward Norton's and Edward Furlong's extraordinary preformance, there wasn't much in it.
The believer on the other hand is quite an extraordinary movie. Ryan Gosling and Billy Zane also brought us extraordinary preformances, story is a lot more realistic, characters are way more dinamic (especially Danny Balint) and i just enjoyed it a lot more than AHX.

I wanted to make a similar list, but had very few films.

Anyway, I suggest you to add Black Swan vs The Piano Teacher. I think the latter was more, interesting, intellectual and so much better in general!

Interesting idea, but I can't agree with how you developed it!
You compared a lot of blockbuster movies with author's one and I don't think that's really fair since it's rather obvious that you gotta choose how to say what you're saying also thinking about who you're talking to, what kind of reaction you're searching for etc.
So I don't really think you can actually compare "The Transporter" with "Driver" (I don't really think that whoever enjoyed the first one will enjoy the last one, and I don't think that is fair to simply establish that "they don't understand", this is not a science and that answer is way too easy!) or "Hostel" with "Funny Games" since they're not even "playing the same game"!

"Ed TV" vs "The Truman Show" and "Bone Collector" vs. "Seven" are perfect examples though!

How could you possibly call Butterfly Effect bad? I think it's a fantastic movie. Better than Donnie Darko in my opinion.
