I agree with all of the games on this list except "Dino Crisis". Then again in retrospect do not listen to me because I think that the "BK Presents: Sneak King" games are just terrifying and could possibly cause a mild form of death. But hey to each his own.

The sequels to Dino Crisis were craptastic, but I thought the original was actually quite good. Besides, survival horror and velociraptors were made for each other! Still, if I come back and edit this list later it will be the game that gets the boot. =P

Looking over your list again I remember playing Resident Evil 3 and throwing down my controller and running away from the screen on Nemesis' third appearance. Your know the one where he breaks down the wall in the police office and blocks the damn hallway where you need to past!

Yeah they made a really cool/scary encounter system for RE3... you had to make quick decisions about what you were going to do when you encountered Nemesis, because you couldn't kill him! @_@

Do you think that RE5 is going to blow the door off the hinges. I really like the co-op mode that is going to be implemented.

Based on the trailers I've seen, hell yeah! Resident Evil 5 looks BEAST! ^_^

I agree that most of those are awesome good old school survivor horrors but the list seems rather focused on two franchises. Have you tried any Fatal Frame, Siren, Clock Tower, etc?

I concur, the list is indeed dominated by two franchises. The problem is I've played a lot of other survival horror games and none of them have quite measured up to Resident Evil or Silent Hill, in my opinion. I have played Fatal Frame, and while it was legitimately scary and the camera mechanic worked pretty well I still had trouble becoming immersed in it. I have Siren - Blood Curse for PS3 and I'm going to give that a go eventually. Clock Tower never grabbed my interest really. I had some other games on the list before like Dino Crisis and Carrier, but they got bumped off. I still have some PS2 survival horror to catch up on like The Suffering and Cold Fear, so maybe one of those will make it on.

Good question! I haven't played Amnesia yet, but I'm sure once I do it will be on here.

Maybe you could do an old skool version of this list - X Com Enemy Unknown - the original DOS version...mainly a resource/strategy/battle game but it can really crank up the tension when you can hardly see anything and in seconds most of your team is wiped out...maybe the new/remake version released at the end of 2012 retains that dread - Survival Horror? The whole damn planet depends on you!
