I've now rearranged this list in a way that the top movie is the one i'm going to see next, so I'll start with The Prestige, and next is Dawn of The Dead. I'm gonna have to try and watch all of these this month 'cause next month is gonna be hectic so I don't think I have time for movies.
SO. As I have noticed that I have so many movies I want to watch, I decided to ask for help from my fellow Listal users. So I need everybody to suggest what movies should I watch that are on this list.
Go ahead, don't be scared, I want comments and suggestions ! ;)
Most of these movies are the ones that have been on my queue for ages, some are a bit newer.
I really liked Happiness (very disturbing), Children of Men and Dark City. Those last two are both visually great films, in their own ways. I loved Freaks, but well, but it's not for everyone, so there's a chance you'll either love it or hate it, hehe.
My top 5 picks for you:
1. Dawn of the Dead
2. True Romance
3. Children of Men
4. The Prestige
5. Dark City
Runner-up would be Freaks. Only one here I've seen & wasn't as impressed with was I Saw the Devil, but I wouldn't say I regretted the time spent watching it.
1. Casino (great cast, great acting, great story, Scorsese director, what do u need more? :P It's my favorite film of his.
2. True Romance (this one was great also, btw Tarantino wrote the story, so guess how fucked up the story is ? :)
3. The Prestige (My favorite of Nolan, has a great ending.
4. Dark City (was a surprise for me, didn't expect to be so good, has a very unique story.
5. You Can't Take It with You (If u're a Stewart fan u shouldn't miss this one + it's directed by Frank Capra who is brilliant, love his films!)
I wish I could see these films again for the first time. :)
I highly recommend You Can't Take It with You. It seems to be largely forgotten compared to Frank Capra's other works, but I found it be hilarious, and with all the warmth and charm of a Capra movie.
Casino is also a must see. Like Goodfellas and The Departed, it's incredibly fast paced, features excellent performances and has some of the best film editing I've ever seen.
I found Freaks average. Daring for it's time, but I thought the story was nothing special.
Haven't seen the rest (I've been meaning to watch The Prestige myself).
You've got some great movies to watch in your future here. Actually, I wouldn't steer you away from a single film listed, even though I didn't personally have much use for The Tree of Life, and didn't find Children of Men to be anything near the masterpiece some people claim.
My favorites in order:
1. Dark City
2. Casino
3. The Prestige
4. Happiness
5. Henry
6. I Saw the Devil
7. Freaks
8. True Romance
- Dark City is an interesting film. I can't guarantee you'll like it, but you should give it a try.
- The Prestige was a very good movie. Hugh Jackman deserves more credit for his role in this movie.
- The 1978 Dawn of the Dead is probably the best of the "of the dead" movies, including the remakes.
- Casino was put together well, and although it's pretty long, the story and characters are interesting.
- I really enjoyed Children of Men, it felt very real to me, and not flat and lifeless like a lot of CG action movies that have come out recently.
If this is still active and I had just one choice, I would recommend Dark City. Works equally as a thriller, a mystery, and as sci-fi, plus I love the hectic, breathless pace right from the start!
Dawn of the Dead is also brilliant if you like zombie movies.
1. Dawn of the Dead
2. True Romance
3. Children of Men
4. The Prestige
5. Dark City
